    What would you say?

If YaoMing got injured in the NBA season with the Rockets?

If YaoMing tired during the 82-plus-game stretch?

If YaoMing was overwhelmed by the aggressive American media?

Who's going to take the Chinese NT team to the Olympics?

Yao was born in China and he loves his country. He has ALOT things on his shoulder, because he is THE most talented player in China. I don't think playing for the NT team is just an obligation to him. He loves to play there.

The problem is a matter of efficiency. What I hate most about Chinese NT is their training program. They spent hundreds of days before the game and basicly do nothing. YaoMing simply cannot afford that. Fans (in Houston and in China) cannot stand that. I hope the CBA and gov people can just change their mind and accept the advaned programs from wherever, Euro, Houston...... and stop bulls***ing about how Yao looks slower than before because of the NBA training!!!

I don't know whether the CBA realized how lucky they are to have Yao on the team. They'd better do a great job to help him.

hey rage, gotta ask, who proved what when and where? Is that a Cal Tech study I missed?

Check out the Olympics sometime dude. Gold medalists come in all different shapes (check out curling to see gold medalists with beer bellys), sizes and colors.

And not all of them train in the good ol US either. They've even got barbells in Belgium now. Actually, if anything I have heard that training for national teams in certain other countries has the tremendous advantage of the FULL FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF THEIR NATIONAL GOVERNMENTS. In America? Private coaching. I'd love to do a survy of the average household income of US Olympic athletes' familes. Well, regardless, I garauntee that there is no excercise aid that is not available to Yao. A personal trainer is the only thing he truly lacks (for some reason).

Also, does anyone know the EXACT situation with his obligation? I know it's in his contract, but is it part of his obligation as citizen of China? To WHOM exactly is he obliged? COULD he choose NOT to do any of the training stuff they require? I mean really, do Yao or the Rockets really have ANY say in the matter?

Also, does the team train every summer? Will this situation occur every single year?

When was the last time you saw a white/yellow guy win in say long jump, 100m and basically those sports emphasizing explosiveness and power?

Jonathan Edwards, world record holder, triple jump (18,29 m, I believe). Triple jump does require some explosiveness and power.

In 100 m, the last significant white guy would be Armin Hary (Germany) who won the 100 m in Rome 1960 (10.0 seconds).

200 m, I would say it is the Italian Pietro Mennea who was the world record holder with 19.72 for a long time (from 1979).

In Decathlon, the last two world record holders were (white) Czechs.

As for women, Heike Drechsler (Germany, white) dominated the long jump for a while and was also pretty good in the 100 and 200 m when she was younger. The world records set by Florence Griffith-Joyner - I do not think they are legitimate world records (as in having been achieved without massive doping), irrelevant of the color of the skin of the person who achieved them. They were just too far out.

Gymnastics is a sport that involves a lot of power and explosiveness. For men and women.

I would be willing to bet that you can find people of all colors, to be champions.

So who proved it as fact?

I hope not. However, a blank jersey is better than the current one.

Do you guys realize how long it takes to put "bulk" onto a frame that is 7'5"??? The answer is "years" not weeks or months. He may NEVER have a huge upper body. It just isn't that easy no matter how much weight you lift.

Yao doesn't need to bulk up, he just need to get stronger. Meaning more lean muscle mass. He might very well stay the same size but stronger.

Whats up with all this diet crap.

A Gorilla eats leaves as their main diet and they are stronger then any human. Who cares what he is eatting, just as long as he is in shape.

    verse, bruin74, SWTsig,

You can see what I did to gain muscle mass at How I bulked up from being thin... (a new thread that I built.) If I need to be more specific about weights, I can post a follow-up.

For everybody else, if you think Yao can't put 30 lbs of muscle on his upper body over three months - you are flat out wrong, and the link above will detail how to do it.
