DD your strawman is about as easily torn down as Jay Cutler in the pocket.

I agree with most of that, though I think he is top 15, not top 10.....let's see if you get hammered for saying he was a little streaky and slow footed.....like I would....lol.

Like usual Moes, you are way off.

This is a clear case of "shoot the messenger"......go look at the thread, and see whether folks are discussing Schaub, or me......

Yep yep....exactly, people should stick to the subject, but unfortunatly I am not allowed to have a contrary opinion because it will make some people a tad upset.

Forget that Schaub threw the ball right to a Colt off his back foot for a pick 6 in a 7 point game.......or that he was looking at the rush instead of downfield most of the first half....looking scared....

    Nah, it is all DD.....lol...WTF...ever.

As usual, you make a stupid, all-encompassing hasty generalization and then try and play the victim as if somehow every poster with a brain on this BBS has it in for you.

    Do the ****ing math.

For the record, Moes is an impartial observer. DD, that logic fails once again.

    Ok, let's do the math.

Page 1 post number 20, I post "He does not like to be hit."

Which touches off a bunch of sarcastic posts, fine, some were funny.

Then I post on page 2 post 31, "That Schaub gets rattled"

    Which gets these responses:

    "Just stop posting in here"
"God, DD. We keep giving you the benefit of the doubt, and you keep flushing it completely down the toilet."
"He's talking out of his azz?"

And it goes on from there, never mind that others have said nearly exactly what I said in this thread......

I think the bottom line is that at some point, I think people got butthurt over something I said in the past....and are carrying that forward.

    It happens far too often......

I haven't read through the whole thread, but I think the gist of what you're saying is that Matt Schaub is a problem and we can't win big with him, thus we'd be better off trying to replace him.

I say that we certainly can win big with him, not necessarily BECAUSE of him, but he can be a big part of it. He is a great decision maker at QB, and that's the most important quality. We'd be very hard-pressed to find one better.

it's absolutely silly to blame any of the losses on him. The pick six was his fault, but we should have still been in that game if not for play-calling.

Good lord, I hope it does not come off like that at all, I am just talking about things I think he needs to improve upon...

I think he is well good enough to lead a team to the Super Bowl if he has the right team around him, a good line, better coaching and play calling and a good running back.

And a defense to stop at least SOMEONE, every now and then.

I don't think KC or the Raiders have the experience yet to finish strong and win the division. A lot of their core players are still very young. Kansas City has more talent, but Cassel is very average. Oakland has more veterans like Asomugha and Seymour, but they still can be a very undisciplined team (penalties in the red zone).

Oakland annihilated 2 teams with no running games and their pass rush has looked dominant as of late, not to mention the hiring of Hue Jackson has been one of Al Davis' only good moves over the better part of the decade. With that being said they face a tough remaining schedule, and Jason Campbell is only good when he's not facing pressure. If the Raiders can run the ball, they can win games.

San Diego has been unfortunate with stupid mistakes, WR woes, special teams debacles, and still throughout that, you know as long as Rivers and Gates are healthy they'll be right there at the end of the season when it counts.

    Wow definitely wasn't expecting that....

That's what I'm hoping for but I don't know why the special team problems would magically go away... Especially with no change made week after week.

You remind me of a kid who does everything wrong but winds up with the right answer.

Schaub unquestionably gets rattled. But most QBs do. His biggest issue is rhythm - if he has to play second fiddle to Foster or can't stay on the field long enough to find his groove, he's wildly inconsistent. I think that's why Kubiak came out passing, to let Schaub settle in before unleashing Foster. It's not a completely unjustified strategy, per se - you have to assume a shoot-out with Manning is likely. But you should never gameplan failure. Cross a bridge only if you have to.

I think he simply outsmarted himself.

that is a great point. He is a rhythm passer. In the first colts game schaub did look off on the few occasions he was called to pass. Perhaps they just wanted to get him going early.

I definitely think the gameplan was one where too much strategery was trying to be used in one form or another. In that game, you come out running and don't stop. Send a message.

that's exactly how it comes off.

Isn't that because that is how the reader decides what is meant, rather than the actual intent?

Agree on the "kubiak outsmarted himself" said so in the game thread.

The inconsistent part though, would be a serious flaw if he has to throw the ball and struggles to play 2nd fiddle.

Because the best case would be they play running football, and pass off of the run.

I don't think the protecton is quite as good this year. Just look at the sack numbers. He's already been sacked 19 times after being sacked 25 times all last year.

Every QB can be off due to something oher than himself. Even Drew Brees has struggled at times and has 11 INTs.

    Agreed.

The NFL also, uniformly, moves rather slowly. Teams generally have mere hours to prepare for their next game - and they often do it with limited information (especially early in the year).

One of the small but still-vital negative repercussions of Schaub playing a full schedule last year is that teams have that much more film of him - he's less of a mystery. Combine it with an off-season of preparation and it's possible the league has caught up to him (and Kubiak's offense) a bit, too. (Same can be said for Brees and the Saints.)
