I see you make this argument a lot, but it just isn't true. He's proved that he's one of the best in the league against the blitz. Obviously he's not going to make super high percentage of throws when under pressure because....well, he's under pressure. I think you just have this false impression because 1) He quarterbacks your team, so you are more critical of him than others and 2) He's under pressure more often than other good QB's.
His decision making has declined this season. He has at least 2 "near interceptions" every game this season
The line played absolutely horrible, brown got rolled by freeney seemingly every play. It all comes back to coaching every week there's one facet of our game that's not ready to roll. Incosistantacy is our major weakness once again this year.
Matt problem is , he locked in to AJ and TE only..I just dont get why he doesnt use Walters, JJ, or Anderson more....I swear every pass play is thrown at AJ or the TE's...on occasion he will throw a slant to JJ and thats usually on 3rd down
I agree with Walters, but JJ has dropped at least 5 of his last ten passes(guessing). We just need more consistency and effort team wide, like I said, to me this all comes down to coaching. You have coaches that can make good teams great, Kubiak doesn't seem to be able to squeeze that last bit of effort out of his players.
all the more reason to let loose Arian Foster... the O line was struggling big time and Kubiak decides to throw the ball
Sorry guys after Matt got hit yesterday he started watching the rush, I have no idea why some games he gets through it and others it lasts longer. Heck he got through it yesterday by the 2nd half, maybe it is the combination of getting hit and making a stupid throw for 6 points.... Either way, Matt gets rattled, not every game but often enough to notice. DD
He SHOULD be watching the rush, Duane Brown was letting Freeny through on every play, EVERY DAMN PLAY. He had no chance to do anything yesterday. It doesn't help when Daniels and Walter are not quick enough to get open anymore and Jacoby can't catch a pass. It also doesn't help that they often line up just Andre out at receiver giving him exactly 2 options (Andre who is probably triple teamed and Foster as a safety valve). The play calling an pass protection have put him in no situation to succeed. And like someone else has already posted, he is statistically the best QB in the NFL while getting blitzed, you seem to keep ignoring that. Can you give me an example of a QB who can take a giant hit (Schaub got lit up twice by Brackett and Sessions) and not get shaken up? It blows my mind that you dont realize how poised Schaub is under pressure and is probably the ONLY thing going right for the team right now
I agree. I hate the bootleg play. It doesn't seem to work with the zone blocking scheme. Often times if our line shifts left, it leaves the LDE unblocked since he's not going to make a play on the ball if we run it. That leaves him to sit and watch the qb for the bootleg.
Rhino, I am not ignoring anything, just because he is good against the blitz doesn't mean he doesn't get rattled, when he gets hit, or makes a bad throw. Matt gets rattled. I will say he could use a lot more check downs to a back out of the backfield though, and some screen passes to minimize the pressure. Denver used to run tons of screens, not sure why Houston doesn't do it, Foster can catch it. DD
You dun goofed up. I don't know if that's true. He seemed to target Walters a fair share of the time, he just missed a lot. The failed 4th down conversion comes to mind where he tried to hit Walters twice in a row. Andre was only thrown to 5 times the entire 1st half. I realize that doesn't mean he's not locking on to Andre and getting sacked or dumping it off to his RB when he realizes Andre isn't open, but there's no other way I can think to measure it short of watching every single pass play. Even then it's difficult to see.
Foster had 9 catches on Monday night. Not only did he do it, he did it too much. Obviously didn't do a thing to "minimize the pressure"...
I will say that about 4-5 of those catches happened on the last drive of the game where the Colts were giving Matt that short check down to eat up clock. I know this because on the last drive alone Foster got me close to 10 points in my PPR league. I would like them to do more screens, they seem effective 4 out of 5 times they run it and if the line is going to have issues pass protecting then a nice screen or draw can loosen up the opposing "D" a bit.
