Probably DaDakota began to grudingly admit that he was good for enough time so that the curse wore off. But now he's crapping on him again, so I expect big games soon.
He is just not as good as you thought eh, easy to blame it on outside influences rather than on his shortcomings. DD
Keep it coming, DD. Your reverse-jinx powers are almost as formidable as your jinx powers, and the Rockets are going to need all the help they can get in this upcoming stretch.
This is what I was saying all along. He was playing out of his mind and putting up ridiculous numbers. He's fallen back down to earth and his averages will adjust accordingly. It's very hard to be an elite player in this league because you have to be consistent night in and night out over the course of many seasons. Not just for a months stretch or half a season.
I agree with this. Lowry is an overachiever. He gets the most out of his body than almost anyone else in the league. And I think that effects him in two ways. One his body can not continue to take a pounding all year long and play at that same level. And two a drop in his confidence level has a bigger effect on him than someone more talented. You're never as good as the people who love you say or as bad as the people who hate you think. He was never going to be a Rubio type passer or Nash type shooter in this league. But he will return to being good at both skills again in the near future. People always say he is young and he is going to get better but I thought this guy was playing like an All Star to start the season and it would be great if he could keep it up because IMO he is getting the most out of his abilities. I also believe that some of the accolades he was receiving from around the league put an added pressure on him to play at such a high level every night. That is just a hard level to consistently play at even for the greatest. I do not expect him to put up near triple double numbers over the course of the season as some on this board think he can but I expect him to play at a high level again. Of course that's my opinion subject to being wrong.
Everybody can speculate what the problem is and we all see that something is different. I think what is being overlooked is the fact that he has for the most part always played tough and all out but that has been missing lately. I don't think it's so much that his skills have all of a sudden went away the last few games but his forceful desire is missing. Why is it gone, what happened to it? I think when the all out attitude comes back his play will be back up.
For some reason I think it’s more mental or injury than fatigue. Lowry was logging a lot of minutes and expected to do a lot on the floor, but this is the same with a lot of other players right now and they’re adjusting. Rubio’s been playing way more minutes than Lowry lately and played 42 minutes against the Lakers the night before they played us. Lowry was the rested one and looked like a sluggish old man. It just doesn’t add up to me that he would break down this quickly. He’s 25, not 32 like Scola. As far as mentally, things that could be bothering him are the legal trouble (court date is tomorrow), newborn baby, relationship/trust in the coach, trade rumors, etc. I just see all these posts about Lowry’s emotions and how, “Well, Lowry is just an emotional player,” but honestly I never thought of him like that before this season. The constant whining to the refs, yelling at the coach on the sidelines, staring down teammates for fumbled plays, blaming the coaching strategy stuff seems to be a recent development. Outside things may be eating at him. Or it could be as simple as an injury nagging at him. In that case he needs let someone know and rest. I just really don't think him suddenly looking like a slow old man has anything to do with the league adjusting for him or not being as good as we thought.
He's near the top 20 in MPG this year, and he probably already wasn't accustomed to playing this much since he only had 1 full year of getting starters minutes. Couple that with the ridiculousness of this year's schedule... he just looks dead out there at times.
Lowry just needs to learn how to slack off. As in knowing when to take breathers and when to put it into a different gear. Sometimes you can just facilitate and spread the floor. Other times you need to attack the basket and create opportunities. Sometimes you need to crash the boards and help your big fellas. Other times you should just let them do the dirty work. This is something that should come with time and experience.
MOAR PLZ maybe could have had the win tonight if you'd poured it on. .....just don't end up liking him, next thing you know he'll end up an aspiring neck hair farmer in the Attic foothills or turning tricks for the Lanzhou Smiling Unicorns like most of your previous mancrushes.
He's trying to do WAY too much. Oh and does anyone know what ever happened with that battery case with Lowry and that ref?
He played pretty well tonight, but passed up a wide open 3 late, and then charged into the lane like a wild man and got whistled for it. He has to play more under control, he needs to be a calming influence and control the tempo....that IMO, is his next step to take. DD
You and me both, especially on that Williams thread where everyone else and their mom were saying Lowry is the better player.
maybe the all-star pressure is getting to him? ... NAH! he's just a little fatigued - he'll hit his second wind here soon.
I'd rather believe he's in a big slump right now for whatever reason, because that means there's still hope. Even though that might be false hope, it's still better than no hope...
