i don't buy the "tired" excuse. he's 25 years old and is not even top 10 in minutes per game. he's just been shooting badly and it's affecting his confidence now to the point he's 2nd guessing and overthinking.
Wow, you think it could go that way that quickly? If McHale has shown anything, he's shown that no one's job is safe. That if you don't produce, someone else will take your spot that does. While there are good things about that coaching philosophy, the bad things are just what you and jopatmc are pointing out. Interesting to think about.
Talking about this in a thread that's about something else. If you think you have a problem that needs addressing, shoot Clutch an email.
Officiating this year has been worse than normal when it comes to fairness I think. It's not just tired legs that are leading to these ridiculous home-road splits that all teams seem to be experiencing. Maybe inherent in the Stern directive to officials to "Let the players play" was also to "Let the home team win" more often than before. Unfortunately though one of the bi-products of "Let the players play" is going to be this thing where little guys don't get foul calls even if they get battered in the paint. Lowry is not nearly a good enough flopper to flail his arms or crumple to the ground or pull any of the other **** Chris Paul pulls when he is waiting for a whistle bailout. I feel bad for the guy because he's got two things going against him: 1. a lack of size and 2. a lack of reputation. It makes for what I feel is the most unfair handling of a player being fouled since Yao. Unfortunately it doesn't look as though anything will change soon. What a horrible NBA management culture they've established there. And they wonder why the NFL has run laps around them.
Space, I like the officiating, get the flopping the hell out of games.....try to make the shot....the gaming the refs crap is just not fun to root for.... Lowry and Kmart both need to stop and start trying to score, rather than trying to game the refs. DD
Wrong? Why does there have to be something wrong? He's regressing back to his career averages. We should have had an opposite thread when he was putting up 18/9/7 everynight.
I thought it was obvious he was playing above a sustainable level, I think me and like two other people talked about this in one the Deron threads with everyone else saying Lowry is the better player. Why, I have no idea.
I'm with you but can they do that and still score as effectively as they have in the past? I'm not so sure they can. I think one of the main reasons they were brought here was because they found ways to get to the line. These guys aren't exceptional athletes or anything, they've learned how to 'game the refs', they've done it most of their careers.
Maybe he should shoot himself out of it ala Brooks? I wouldnt mind him chucking it every once and a while. I would actually not mind it for Kevin Martin to try this more but he doesnt have the killer instinct for it. He just has the assassin like touch for shooting. If Martin wanted to chuck it more we would easily compare him to Carmelo Anthony in terms of scoring. Just in a different way.
I don't think that's the case because at the beginning of last year when he came back from his injury he was shooting bad for a while but it didn't stop him from playing with all out confidence like he always has except for these last few games. I have never seen him not play with confidence like he has of late, I think he is injured or something is going on with the coaching staff.
Lowry's scoring is down because he is trying to shoulder all the new responsibilities. 1) You'll notice that he spends the majority of the first quarter trying to set up his guys, mainly Martin and Scola. He is and always will be a pass first point guard. 2) He expends so much energy in the team defensive and rebounding department that there's not enough left for offense sometimes. 3) He often takes it upon himself to be the last option of offense, hence the poor % shot selection that leads to a bad boxscore #s. If coach McHale said to Lowry that he wanted him to average 20 pts and not worry about teammates and the other aspects of the game, I can assure you that he would. Lowry's slump is him just trying to find the right balance between getting his teammates involved and getting his own flow going. This is probably the last "skill" that separates him from the truly elite PGs. I am certain that he will break through, just like all the other times he's done through his career.
yeah, lets blame the coach for your own suckiness. I'm a big lowry supporter. but this finger pointing is lame. It's not like the wolves made adjustment to slow him down. He slowed himself down! For the past several weeks actually... Hey, Lowry. Instead of blaming the coaching stuff, how about answering OP's question, like what the fxxx is up with u lately?
