Extreme pain in the lower abdomen, left or right side - kind of feels like it's in the lower back. Drink water non-stop and try like hell to piss it out! Then, when the pain becomes unbearable, have someone take you to the ER and ask for Demerol. Tooth pain is agonizing, all night food poisoning was right up there too, and one 3 day migraine is a contender... but nothing compares to kidney stones for me either. The thing that always stood out to me is that it's relentless. No ebb and flow to this pain. When I feel one coming on, I get scared witless. Drink lots of water people! You don't want to deal with giving birth to a little jagged rock.
Easily This. I have had broken bones, cracked skull and the only thing close was the resetting when I broke my nose or possibly when I was a kid walking in the ocean and stepping on a huge coral hidden under the sand.
Stepping on a stingray when I was 10 was the worst. Am a good swimmer, but still somewhat scared of the ocean as a result.
I have so many ulcers in my mouth now along with that abscess. I think this may be a result of stress and/or lack of sleep. I may be forced to visit a dentist . The pain has become so unbearable that thoughts of making myself pass out have begun to go through my head. Well it does make me feel better that you guys have had equally if not more painful experiences in your lifetime. Puts things in perspective I guess..
Luckily for me, I have never broken any bones nor had a kidney stone. I have had some mild tooth pain but nothing like what some of the people here are describing. Let's see, some of the ones for me: I have had 2 vasectomies and a reversal , but those weren't bad except for the 2nd and final vasectomy. I had a harder time recovering from that one than the first one and the reversal (the reversal, I felt like I had gotten nailed by a sledgehammer in my crotch area for a day or two but it was more of a dull pain). For awhile, I had this problem of getting my "pipes clogged up" thanks to having a vasectomy done (was told that is normal) and the only way to get rid of it is to take an antibiotic. But having a dull throbbing and at times burning pain down there is no picnic. But it doesn't win, though. I have also dislocated my thumb when I was 11 (this moron kid kicked it by accident), had a concussion when I ran into the back of a guy's head playing softball, nearly breaking my nose in the process. Looking back at that one, I wasn't in a lot of pain other than the area around my nose and nose felt like it was on fire. I have had many headaches but only 1 really bad migraine and that sucked, too. I have had my wisdom teeth taken out and was able to avoid the dry socket and didn't really have any complications from that surgery. I have also sprained my ankles playing basketball close to 10 times in my life. But the #1 worst pain for me was the night that I tore my left hamstring playing softball. I had already tweaked both hamstrings and didn't want to play but the coach begged me to or they would have to forfeit. He put me at first base so I wouldn't have to move. I tried purposely to hit line drives and flyballs but the first time up, I missed my pitch and hit a routine grounder to the second baseman. I started trotting down the line when I noticed he bobbled it, so I tried to run a little harder. Bad idea - I felt like 4 people had grabbed the back of my left leg and twisted it as hard as they could. I immediately collapsed to the ground and started beating the ground, screaming in pain. A couple of guys on the team came out to check on me and after awhile, I was able to get up but with some help. What sucked was that happened in the 1st or 2nd inning and I had to continue to play since we didn't have anyone who could come in for me. I had too much pride to just tell the home plate umpire that I would take an out so I continued to bat when it was my time, usually going 3 steps out of the box and that was it. Any way, driving home was a challenge as I had to sit on the area that had the most pain. It stiffened up on me so bad when I got home that I thought I would be frozen like a statue. Eventually, the back of my left leg was like 3 or 4 different colors and ran all the way from the top of the back of the thigh to a little above my ankle. I think it took 4 months for that thing to completely heal. So, yea, tearing a huge muscle like that is the worst, IMO.
just curious how did you all mess up your backs and or hips? are you all older? I would hate to go through any of that...
My damn dog almost tore my damn hand off when I was trying to fend her off of my other dog from fightin...
if anyone here has ever had to deal with chronic or acute prostatitis, they know the feeling of a flare up... everything burns. my worst battle had me on the ground, writhing in pain, until I was put on some anti inflammatories and flomax/levaquin. I just did a search and saw a few others here have been affected by this. the visit to the urologist is the worst part.
Another vote to dislocated shoulder. It's a needle throbbing pain and the fact that you can't play basketball full strength is discouraging. I've dislocated it, had therapy, dislocated it again, had surgery, and dislocated it yet again. Never ending..
