    Ouch.

Reminds me of college when one of my drummer buddies decided he was going to move to Boston and go to Berkley School of Music. He wanted me to go with him but I didn't because I didn't think I was good enough. The thing was, I was actually better than him so I thought he'd NEVER make it.

20 years later, he's playing with Sheila E. at one of Obama's inauguration parties and touring the world with Paulina Rubio playing in stadiums with 150,000+ people.....and I'm playing Earth Wind and Fire covers in a wedding band....

this isn't advice i haven't taken, but similar story...

I opened up for a band at fitzgerald's november 2008, called Hockey, they were on tour from portland.. and had absolutely nobody there to see them.. hung out with them after the show, they asked if me and my guys wanted to finish the tour with them.. At first we were really excited but then they were telling us.. they were always playing empty shows... and all four of them were pretty much living out of a big van... and we'd have to have our own transportation... The thought of being able to travel and play was amazing.. but i just graduated high school and it just didn't seem like the right decision..i had to decline.

5 months later i see that they signed with capitol (us) and virgin(uk) and they were touring Europe... I emailed the singer (who i talked to at fitz) and he responded sayin' he'd have tickets for me when they came back to houston..

They came back to Houston and played at Warehouse live, they left us four free tickets.. he gave me a shout out and told everyone to check out my music...

They just played Lollapallooza, This fall they are playing at A.C.L.

    SMH....
