yao sets good picks. He is very good and wide, so it's hard to get around. His pick usually leaves the guard wide open...

in the past, i think yao-mac pick and roll is the best, especially on the 45 degree, which usually leads up to t-mac penetration or yao rolling for a dunk or freethrow with t-mac's terrific passing...

but now...the only good thing comes out of it i think is brook having an open shot....i think in the future, more wafer and yao pick and roll would be better

You bring Yao out for PNR because of the following reasons:

1.) If the defenders switch, you've now created a mismatch with a smaller guy on Yao and a slower guy on Rocket #2. Exploit the mismatch.
2.) If they don't switch, you've got a situation where Person #2 now has space for a shot or a much more open path to the bucket. Clearing Yao and blowing past Yao's defender means the biggest threat at the bucket is Yao's PF.

It's definitely more effective when the defense has to respect Mac as a someone who can get and finish at the rim. Yao and Tracey have run the PNR well in the playoffs against Dallas and Utah. It's a beautiful thing when all the options must be respected by the defense.

The pnr with tracy and yao works pretty good although I wish they would set yao at the ft line and he step out 1 step and tracy penetrates or kicks it back for the j. Rafer running a pnr with yao is useless because rafer can't penetrate nor can he shoot the mid range shot. Brooks and Yao is what I would like to see more of.
