I've been told that TAG's are looked down on by people that really know watches. Not true?

Not really looked down but the criticism TAG is because they used ETA movements for a while and didn't have in-house movements like, say, Rolex, IWC, or Omega does. Which is understandable to a degree since you can find an ETA movement in a $400 watch nowadays but ETA supplies movements for a lot of brands and is considered really reliable. It's almost like buying a Lexus ES300 back in the day knowing fully well that you're getting a rebadged Camry at a mark up price.

No in my opinion Tag's are great watches. As with all watches they have different price points and some Tag's hold more weight than others.

But it's silly to look down upon someone wearing a high class watch. Thats like a maybach owner looking down on someone who owns a AMG mercedes.
