Should the Rockets opt for keeping future cap space flexibility open? Or

    1. Just look for undervalued/short term contract players, and keep space open. This method can also work because of how good Morey is at finding these players. If they don't get some quality undervalued players, it will probably limit their championship chances for one season in hopes for a superstar next offseason (Note: also a good chance they can get bought out players later in the season). If they do manage to sign a Kevin Love next offseason, it just increases their championship window by 3-4 or something years (Love is still a young player).

    2. Sign proven quality players who will probably want long term contracts. It will keep them out of the running Love or something next offseason (S&T still possible), but it will strengthen their championship chances if they sign the right players next couple years.

This method would require sacrificing a chance at another superstar (unless they S&T for Melo this summer) to help the present.

Free Agents in roles Rockets need:

    1. Carmelo Anthony
    2. Dirk Nowitzki (Probably will just stay in Dallas)
    3. Chris Bosh (Seems like the likeliest of the Big 3 to leave)
    4. Luol Deng
    5. Trevor Ariza
    6. Zach Randolph (Will he opt out?)
    7. Lance Stephenson
    8. Avery Bradley (albeit restricted)
    9. Shawn Marion
    10. Ak47
    11. Ray Allen
    12. Thabo Sefolosha
    13. Boris Diaw
    14. Vince Carter

Try and get a huge upgrade (probably at PF spot or maybe a sixth man wing player?). If not, just keep doing what weve been doing, rely on cheap and draft talent and keep that flexibility. The offseason after that when Parsons becomes a UFA is when we really have to commit.

We need a vocal leader who can play consistently on both sides of the court. Is a healthy Rondo, that person? Possibly yes. It's not going to be easy to obtain him from Boston, but I think DM will go after him.

The short comings of the team are evident. It's worth having a discussion about the offseason at this time.

Way to early to start taking about this, without knowing how this team will perform in the playoffs. That's going to determine the route the team should take.

If we can find a way to get Ryan Anderson and Carmello, buy giving up Asik, Lin, D-Mo and Parsons.. I think we would be in great shape to contend

    Howard
    Anderson
    Anthony
    Harden
    Beverly

Let's finish up this season. The team still has a great chance once the playoffs get here. The team slowly but surely is getting to be a team that will be ready for the slow down grind out games of the playoffs. Just watch and see how the team is getting to change their style of play to fit the playoff run that is sure to come. Wait for it and believe.

our 2-3-4 wouldn't play defense, and beverly's defense is overrated considering all the elite point guards in the west still get their points on him no matter how hard he tries to annoy them.

I was thinking we'd be keeping our flexibility to become players after Asik/Lin expire. But now I'm leaning towards us going all-in this offseason so we can exceed the cap to resign Parsons (if he's around), Beverley, and veterans.

I think we'll have our main core by the trade deadline next season.

Our main problem regarding a trade is the same as it's been all year. Asik and Lin don't have the pull to get us a star. I would be happy if we got a solid upgrade via trade instead of waiting for 2015. I do believe that at the end of the day, cap flexibility will win out provided if Les doesn't pull the trigger on a trade.

    1: Get D-Mo to take 20,000 3 point shots.
2: Get Jones some remedial schooling on basic NBA defensive principals.
3: Sign Hamilton for next season.
4: Get the team further coaching on NBA defensive rotations.

The Rockets are after all about the fifth youngest team in the NBA.
