Send me your email addresses if you want to play in the game. Remember, there won't even be a game unless we can get enough people together.

I'll also take recommendations regarding a venue for a draft party.

Just get me everybody's email addresses who wants to play.

i'd love to hoop it up with you guys. i've been hanging around this bbs for a few years now and wish i could have hooked up with y'all at the "barkley's final game" festivities. be nice to put a few faces to these names that i know so well by now.

so, you're probably wondering, "who the hell is this guy claiming to have been around so long?" well... i make the time to check this board several times a week but can usually only spare enough time to read a few threads. i'd love to be more involved but...
what can i say? i'm one of those longtime lurkers you hear about.

so, anybody need a short, white point guard?? i may remind you guys a little too much of bryce drew or brent price on the court but i've got hops and can outrebound a lot of bigger guys. plus, i like to get easy shots for my teammates. right, pass 1st, shoot 2nd?

btw - P1, s2 - i just sent you an email to include me on your list.

I say we have a draft!

    Here's my draft bio:

    PhiSlammaJamma
    6'4" 195 lbs
    Age: 29
    Position: SG
    School: RIT TIGERS
    Freshman: 0.1 ppg 0.1 Reb 33% FG 0% FT
    Sophmore: 2.4 ppg 1.0 Reb 48% FG 82% FT
    Junior: 13.9 ppg 2.3 Reb 42% FG 92% FT
    Senior: 9.4 ppg 2.1 Reb 47% FG 83% FT

Accomplishments: I got one basket in my freshman year because the player on other team thought I was on his team and he passed me the ball. I was streaking down the court for an open layup and our best player was begging for the ball but I KEPT IT! 2 points baby. I was in the column.

Analysis: Typical shooting guard who sits behind the arc all day. Grade: A+. May go with first pick. No Slams in his entire career, or life for that matter.

6'4" and never dunked? Man, I am 6" and can grab the rim (er, could grab the rim - damn these bad knees!). What is a rit tiger?

    rimbaud's draft bio:

Height: 6' and a little something

    Weight: 164

    Carreer stats:

    0ppg 0rpg 0apg 0spg 0tpg 0fpg

    Analysis:

tried out for team that almost won the state championship - probably would have won if they had stopped smoking all that weed and actually practiced - did not make it.

    Carreer highlight:

Was often the only white guy allowed to play on the big court with the big boys. At one time could beat anyone under 6'6" for the rebound.

    What went wrong:

Knees got all kinds of jacked up early in "carreer". Told by doctors not to play again. Ignores doctors, but only plays at about 60%.

    Projected pick:

Excellent trash talking could draw some attention. Sometime in the late 7th round. Oh yeah, they don't have that many rounds in basketball anymore.

Rochester Insitute of Technology Tigers. Division III. Brown, ORange, and Black colors. Logo was a square when I first got there, but they went to Tiger in my last two years. Thank god.

I'm just not a jumper. Some of us got hops and some of us don't. I could always get rim, but never anything more. Never tried to dunk in a game although I was tempted and desired to do so. Most of my rebounds were of the variety where you tip the ball to yourself and then grab it. Of note, in the one on one drills I used the Hakeem Fade away all day and rarely ever got beat. That shot is unstoppable once you get it down. Thanks Dream!

    P1S2, I'll e-mail you in a lil bit.

    CriscoKidd Profile-

    height: 6'and a little something
    weight: currently measured at 188
    stats: 0

Analysis: raw. Have only played in a couple of organized ball events. Had not even picked up a ball until about 5 years ago. Started seriously playing about 3 years ago. Mostly pick up games.

Career highlite: has been known to dominate games without even having the ball passed to him. Through rebounding, defense, and hustle. Likes to get teamates involved.

Projected pick: Excellent at flagarant fouls. Expected to go ahead of Rimmy, cuz CriscoKidd is better.

    OK, here goes....

    6'2"
    180
    white boy
Played the two all my life
Played four years of highschool ball
Played two years of D-1 Junior college ball at CCCC. Collin County Community College.
(they have since moved to NAIA Div. II)

I was a walk on there. Didn't get much PT my first year.

    My sophomore averages look ok:
    17 MPG
9.8 PPG (should round to 10)
    3.7 RPG
    about 2 assists per game.

I did lead the team in free throw percentage at 89%.

This all occurred back in 1992-1993. I play about once or twice a week now. Monday night corporate league is fun. My game has deteriorated since 92-93.

I have dunked twice in games (once in HS, once in JUCO) and I am afraid to try now, due to the fear of the Grant Hill Sprite commercial effect.

Crisco, Crisco - when will you learn. Don't start something that will get you hurt on the court.

You did make me laugh out loud, though.

If there is a game and we both can make it, we gotta be on different teams, or just have a little time for 1 on 1 so I can beat you down. Then I will dance around in a circle and laugh about how you got schooled by a cripple.

    Can't wait.

Y'all can't court on me! Kidding, well a little bit.

Seriously, I'll guard anybody 6'6'' and under; and I'm only 5'11''. Love to pass (never woulda guessed that, huh?), and I'm Matt Bullard deadly from outside if left alone. Can hit 15 footers until I get bored. Love to rebound. But still, defense is my favorite thing next to getting a dish.

Bad side: I am not athletically blessed, so I tend to play too physical at times. Force shots on the break (usually when nobody gets down court or moves toward the key to set picks and free up the lane). And I tend to lurk around the perimeter instead of getting in the flow of the offense.

Anyway, I'd love to play Caveman one on one...I've been getting coached by Rudy, so he knows his ass is in trouble!

Man, you guys are cracking me up! I see some of us have a competitive nature!

Please hold the ****-talking until the whistle is blown and the ball is tossed in the air!

I used to be competitive, but I won't risk life and limb for any sport these days.

    RocketsPimp Player Profile

    height: 5'8"
    weight: 160-165lb.
Stats: On the court I am referred to as the white Rodman(because I rebound like a madman). Guaranteed to wearout my opponent on defense and quick enough to create shots for myself or teammates on offense. I like to try and get easy baskets, but tend to get wild at times. I'll guard anybody, any size(or try to). Probably a 7-10 pick, maybe better.

P1, S2 don't worry, I'll be there to back you up on those "forced shots on the break".

My turn, Iam bout 5'11 & weigh 185 lbs.
My game is like shandon's, I can score on anyone on a given night or I can clunk everything in another game. I have learned to focus on other aspects of the game when I'am not shooting well like rebounding and defense. I love rebounding over bigger opponents. I like challenging the big guys. Anyways, let's get the game started! I'am excited just to watch some of yall play!

Game: Kurt Rambis, but I shoot threes. I'm a hustle guy, but I usually score on more than just putbacks. I like to drive on the left side, (left handed) but my right hand isn't worthless. Ball-handling is decent I guess and my passing is so-so. I get a lot of rebounds for a guy my size, and a few steals and blocks for good measure.

When is the draft anyway? I like the 4th of July idea, especially if it corrosponds with draft day. Anyway, let me know in advance so I can fly down again. [IMG]

can anyone in here (still) dunk? I can set a mean pick and have got bony elbows that I know how to use. I have also mastered the art of flopping which I have picked up from Malone and Stockton, but I guess it won't do me much good in a pickup game. I've got a 16 inch vertical and once I get the ball it only goes into the basket(or the rim). My best basketball skill however has to be trash-talking.

    Hey everybody,
I've been getting a lot of e-mails over the past few days! If we keep up this pace, there WILL be a fun game for everybody.

I am leaning toward setting the game up at a YMCA (Post Oak or Westside) because I can get a referee there. If we play full court, that'd be the best thing. Besides, when games are ref'd, there will be less chance of somebody getting hurt, and nobody wants that, right?

Anyway, keep sending me e-mails and we'll make this game happen.

Who's got next? Can I run?

I would love to drop in from Aggieland to lace'em up with some fellow CCnet boys. I'm white, only 6'1, and 3 years removed from the good old High School glory days, but i can still get up and throw it down on a break. Not Steve Francis style mind you, but i can dunk nevertheless.

In a typical game to 12 by ones, I usually can get anywhere from 5-7 buckets, 7-10 boards, and I'm a great finisher on breaks, bordering on the spectacular sometimes. I can break you down off the dribble like Cat Mobley and then lay it up. With this said, I still prefer to be the 2nd option on offense so that i can have free reign on the offensive glass, so it looks like Hoop-T and I would fit well together. So what do you think, Hoop-T? I can already see us running the court all day long. I am extremely competetive and hate losing, so i don't lose very often. With the score tied at 11-up, I want the ball and will not tolerate turnovers down the stretch.

When someone takes charge and sets a time and date, make a new thread to let us know.

Let's get this game underway. Who's gonna shoot to die?

    today,
I will run with you. Heck, I will run with anyone....

I did forget one minor detail, I just got a cast off my right hand and arm...broke it in a (what else) basketball game. But I am getting back out on the court now and playing more and more.

By the time the game actually kicks off, it should be close to 100% again.

Can't wait till we all get together for a little fellowship and flagrant fouls.

    P1, S2,

I'm not so sure about getting a Y. I worked at the Post Oak Y for over a year. Even if you could "get" the gym, I don't think too many of the members there would be very happy, especially if we played full court. If anyone can get a church gym or knows of a good playground court, that would be best IMO.

I also think full court is a bad idea. I think there's more of a chance for injury if we play full court. People will be more tired and when people get tired they play sloppy. Plus, for the older guys, or out of shape guys, a full court game would most likely render them totally ineffective after any amount of time.

I'd prefer to just play some half court 3 on 3 games. But, regardless of what ya'll plan, I hope to be there.

    DREAMer's Stats:

    Height5'9"
Weight 240 (Gone up since my knee injury)
Vert - 29" (Well, it used to be)
Dunk? - Used to be able to dunk volleyballs with regularity.
Ballhandling - above average for a guard
Rebounding - above average for my height
Passing - I love to pass, but sometimes I get a little too, "Jason Williams" out there, so keep your eyes open.
Shooting - I prefer the driving shots, ala Elie, or 3-pt bombs ala Maxwell. Also, very streaky like Max.
Defense - Used to be the strongest part of my game. My claim to fame: In a 2 on 2 tournament I once held the guy I was guarding without a bucket in the championship game, and he is 6'2".

    WHAT??!? No full court?

That's a crime. It turns the clock back to the 1950's and totally eliminates the fast break game. My game. Hopefully we can play at a park and the older, more injury prone guys can play half court and us young'ns can play some full court Rocket-Ball. I don't mean to insult the older guys, but we do need to have the option of full-court. To me, it's not worth driving an hour and a half just to play a few games of half court. Sounds like meeting at a park with multiple courts would allow all to play.

What is everyone else's preference? Full-Court or Half-Court?

    Agreed, Today!

Full court is a must. Full court IS basketball. Indoor, outdoor, doesn't matter....just let me run.

Either way, I will show up and play. Full court will have me salivating a bit more though.

Any updates on progress? P1, S2? Anyone? Anyone? Beuhler, Beuhler?
