This year, everything in the kitchen has broken down just about. Had to get a new washing machine, refrigerator, and microwave. Also, we've recently replaced 2 ceiling fans, an air conditioner, and a while back we replaced the windows in a couple rooms. I still need a new window screen since mine is torn from a tree that fell during Claudette. The thing that sucks is that some of the stuff, mainly the larger things like the refrigerator, AC, and washing machine, we tried to fix so we had to carry them in and out of the house, but they weren't fixed. Then we ended up getting slightly bigger ones that what we had, so when going through the kitched doorway, we had to take off this wood strip to give us that extra fraction of an inch to get stuff in and then we put the strip back. Wish I was still a kid and didn't have to be the one helping my dad carry the stuff.
Washer and dryer are 10+ years old......but the NES is from like 1985 or so...and the Atari 2600 is from 1978 I think. DD
All of our appliance are about 6 years old and going strong...We have our second refrig. that's about 9 years plus and still going strong...I think it's a Whirlpool...
I got an old school washer and dryer... 8+ years old... I also used to have my dad's receiver from the late 70's.... maybe early 80's. Then there's the stuff that my parents still have... A microwave that's original to the house which was built in 1970 something. They still have the TV from before I was born (you know, the wood grain kind) and my dad still has the first TV his parents ever bought. All working just fine. Its amazing how well an electrical engineer keeps old electronics running.
Does it still take you 15 minutes to get a game to work like it used to for me? Of course, my friends and I always treated our games like sh*t...lying underneath couch cushions, in potato chip bags.... That old purple and white blinking screen brings back memories...
Actually, no. I still have to "blow inside the games" or inside the console from time to time... but about 98% of the time it works great! I played a game of Tecmo Super Bowl last night. Racked up 650 yards passing with Warren Moon and 400 yards receiving with my main man, Drew Hill.
my NES is still in pretty good shape too. after reading this yesterday, I dusted mine off last night and played some dr. mario and duckhunt. good times... oomp
My NES was tossed out of a window after I forgot to sacrifice a virgin, blow on the contact, bang the top 3 times and un-stick the battered and broken reset button
I still have a working Mac 640K manufactured in mind-80's I believe. Is there a market for it? I keep thinking there are peole who would like to own it as an antique or something.
