I haven't had a ticket yet. I have been behind the wheel for 5 years now. The most close I have gotten to getting a ticket was when I was driving up Highway 6 from Houston to Fort Worth. I was going about 90mph and it was nighttime. There were no other cars and the area was pitch black. Then this one dude came up behind me going 20-30mph faster than i was and swerved around me, suddenly the area started flashing red and blue. It turns out a cop was hidding in the grass along the bridge and if it wasn't for that loser driving faster than me, I am sure I would have had my first ticket.
148 on the Tollway, or beltway 8 in a Lotus Esprit twin Turbo 156 on Southwest parkway in a Porsche Carrara 4 turbo. 166 on I-10 in a Ferrari Testorosa. All of the cars owned by a friend of mine in the games industry..... We used to race them through Austin and Houston for fun.... DD
The scenery went by pretty quickly at 100 in my old Beemer on I45 going to Dallas. I can't imagine going 130+. It has to be very scary.
I think that's crazy and very dangerous, going like 100 miles above the speed limit. People in the US are not prepared for having a car pass by that fast, and they might panic and an accident might occur.
The Fastest I got on a motorcycle was 94mph and that was crazy... In a car I think I took a g35 to 125
It is sad that I do not study as much as I should for my classes, I do not work as hard at my job as I should, and now I find myself purposely breaking the law, all because of this glorious and addictive site! As I was coming home from class tonight on the Interstate, I thought about this thread and I did 103 in my Maxima. Then I became a p***y and dropped down to 80 because, since it was dark, I was afraid I would get busted by a trooper.
One ticket : 84 in a 65. Do not, I repeat, do not speed through Mount Pleasant(Small town close to Tyler, I believe).
watch out for deer. And Cows. They do not appreciate your superior driving. When I was young and reckless, I had a Mazda RX7, that had been supercharged. Unfortunately, the "supercharged" wankel also leaked co2 emissions in the cabin. So, as I recall, I regularly would go over 125 mph (top out) on a windy country road between bastrop and gonzales, except sometimes the road would look like a cow. The car would "lift" a little in turns, and shake on landings. Not the best feeling, esp. if you're a bit woozy from fumes. Am I driving this thing? I finally had a deer pop up and scare the crap out of me, with a whisker miss. No more over 90, thanks. OF course, I'm old and have something to live for, now.
I've had two Camaro Z28 SS's My first, a 99 Camaro SS I once pegged out on I-45 south going to Galveston, the car topped out at 155mph. That was crazy. I could feel the car floating up off the road and everything was a blur, it was cool but scary at the same time. My other 2000 Camaro SS I raced at the track in Baytown and went over 100mph many times. There is a stretch of Hardy Rd. between FM1960 and Cypresswood that runs right along the Hardy Toll Road, it's at least a 2 mile stretch with no place for cops to hide. I've cleared 120mph many many times there just fulfilling a lit need for speed. Good times....
We got up to 180+ on the Auto Bahn in Germany. And, yes people were not prepared....it was more a quick burst than a sustained speed though....we would get up there then slow right back down. DD
PS. I don't go over 75 now...too old, and lost my need for speed.....have kids want to see them grow up... DD
we rented a 911 turbo GT2 in Florida 2 summer's ago. We hit 198 almost on the highway. It was intense.
