    First off, this wasn't meant as a tattoo-bashing thread. It's a large-tattoo-on-the-middle-of-a-woman's-chest-bashing thread. :)

Eve has boob tattoos. We're talking about CHEST tattoos. totally different things. (although I think boob tattoos are pretty trashy except in rare circumstances)

I usually hang out at home with my son and my wife, who has four tattoos. I like tattoos. She wants to get a sleeve. More power to her; happy wife, happy life. But I would have to draw the line at a chest tattoo. I thought about it, and bottom line- it's just too manly a place for a woman to get a tattoo.

As for where I've noticed this new fad, it's where I've taken trips to recently. New Orleans, Austin, and even downtown Ft. Worth. I notice fads and styles. I've discussed it with friends who I was with too, and they noticed the same thing.

It's an example, not a sample of population.

Tattoos...if you like 'em, go for it. It's your body.

I prefer zero tattoos. I don't have any, neither does my GF, and neither of us will ever get one.

i dont have any problems with tats, buts it all depends how good, what kind, etc.

the typical tat on the lower back of a butterfly(or whatever)...boring and unoriginal.

The girl in that picture with the partial sleeve, i dont have too big a problem with that. Its what she likes, and it looks at least original.

I know what some mean when they say tat = skank, b/c the typical girls that have a tramp stamp are a litle skanky. but also, tats arent near as taboo as they use to be so i would say in general that stereotype isnt as strong as it once was.

I'd like to get a tat, but im too dam picky.

    oh yeah...i'd hit it.

To me, it just seems that injecting indelible ink into you epidermis with a hypodermic needle is just a bad idea. Art is in the eye of the beholder but most tats are of the low level commercial art grade, you dont see this stuff in museums. As for the commitment aspect like your mom's face or your baby or your lover, a tat doesn't show commitment ; what you you do everyday shows your commitment.

I think henna art can be fun, get something with some personal flair, but it's not under you skin and you don't have to live with it as your mind and body change.

It is my observation that a lot people get tats when they have self esteem issues and are seeking some individuality and validation of their identity. When acceptance by the status quo becomes difficult many people rebel with behaviour designed to shock the status quo, "freaks" in my day, punk in the next era, heavy metal, goth and grunge after that.

I'm glad all I had to do was let my hair grow to fly my freak flag.

If you're really into tattoos, I'm sure the hideous "chest mess" tats are pretty hot to you. I personally think that the chest mess and boob tats are the worst thing to ever happen to women, but hey, just because I'm of the opinion that they totally ruin a woman's looks doesn't mean they shouldn't get one if they really want it. Having a hideous tattoo doesn't make you a w**** or mean that you have low self-esteem. It just makes you a woman with an ugly piece of art obscuring your body.

I can deal with a couple of small tattoos, but I'd really prefer that they didn't clutter up the fun parts of a woman. My girlfriend got a hair up her ass about a year ago that she wanted to get a large tattoo on her upper back. I was really against the idea, and when she asked what I thought I had to be honest and tell her that I'd find her less physically attractive if she had a huge, ugly album cover on her back. That doesn't mean I'd stop loving her or stop thinking she was sexy. But I do think tattoos are ugly. I didn't get laid that night but she didn't get a tattoo.

my bad, i misunderstood. i love tats but the chest ones don't do much for me either.

but to suggest it's a sign of low self-esteem (as some here have done) is plain dumb.

I cold never take a woman seriously who had the Tattoo of another man's name on her

Unless it is her kid or a dead relative .. . .
    I cannot see it.

A little outdated since he doesn't mention tramp stamps but this bit never gets old. Just skip to around 3:50 mark.
