True he has a lot to learn, but hands and footwork generally cannot be learned. They can be sharpened with repetition, but not learned. They are instinctive, and essential to success at his position. He lacks both.
I read in other thread posted on the board where he twitted what he was going through and to pray for him to get through it. http://www.tweeting-athletes.com/index.cfm?athleteID=4642
I agree, but look at it this way, Hill began his carreer in basketball later than the average player. So, to give him the benefit of the doubt, i am looking at this season as his rookie season. So i am looking for him to break out next season.
Hill should be further ahead with his game. He has hit a plateau and at this stage his learning curve should be exponential. I just don't think the light is going to come on for this kid, I wouldn't mind trading him for a first if we can get it.
Not sure whats going on with him in his personal life, and we shouldnt know. Their family life should be kept private. Whatever he is going through I wish him the best. If you know about his story growing up, the guy has been through alot. As for basketball, losing Brad Miller really hurt Jordan Hill more than anybody. Miller (as bad as he has looked at times) was great at quarterbacking the offense and defense and always made sure Hill was in the right place and did wonders for Hill's game. As we know Miller went down with the knee injury and Hill had to be matched with Scola quite often and those two just dont pair very well on the front court. Then Chuck got hurt and Hill went to the starting lineup. This was the breaking point because he underperformed severely and it clearly hurt his confidence for a very long stretch. It will be interesting to see if Hill rebounds his game when Brad Miller finally returns from the knee injury.
Yeah, it's true that Hill and Miller were meshing well on the floor together. Hill has gone through a lot since Brad has been out. He hasn't been all bad, just not as consistent as before, but i think he will be alright. Whatever happens.
No he does not suck. Stop being impatient whiny little brats. He is young, raw and basically still a rookie and this is what rookies do. They make mistakes, they look awkward, and they are not consistent. Hill has made his fair share of mistakes but he has also shown alot of promise. He has expanded his offensive repitoire, improved his shot, and learned to move better without the ball. You don't judge players like Hill until year 3, because that is when this organization believes players show you what they are going to be. Stop with the outrageous expectations of him. He needs time and we need patience.
Rockets fans get nasty when their team is down. Nothing an 8 game winning streak wouldn't solve. Then people would be saying, "Hill is awesome!", "thank god for Brad Miller", and so on.
well ill have him in a higher regard if he could do what long tall dudes do but he doesnt do it! looks brainless at times, his hustle doesnt pop out at you.... he has the tools but does he have the want and the brains to use it?
I was very careful not to say 'defensive' or 'rebounding' presence -- the high post is still the post! I'm guessing Brad Miller hasn't played in a while so you forgot about how he was playing. He was productive off the bench and a good teacher for Hill. He's definitely still serviceable enough for a contending team to look to him. Of course, the only thing you should expect back is an expiring contract or shorter one.
