Obviously you haven't made enough to understand there is something more than just money.

But Les is cheap. If Yao takes a pay cut, Les will put the extra money in his vault instead of signing a good player.

Who would choose who,That's the question. ;)

I don't suspicion Yao's loyalty,But would Yao rush to sign a 3-year contract in the next summer? I don't think so.

The Writer is absolutely a Yao-Hater and idiot.

No, the writer is just jealous of Yao making a lot of money. Somehow, the writer thinks Yao doesn't deserve it, at least not as much as he deserves his own salary from writings. Just a poor man's jealousy, nothing else.

Steve Kerr underrated KG too.If KG hadn't sold to the Celtics,he probably would have been called a loser for lifetime.Nothing but bias and hate.

Well,I still think our rox will be a contender in the future, although something is wrong with them now... :(

It's true that Yao is not the best center and he is not going to join the caliber of the Dream, Shaq or Ewing. It's simply because he lacks the athleticism to dominate on the defensive end. At the same time, his offense gives him an edge compare to most of the great center as well. There were probably only 1 or 2 center in the nba history who have a CHANCE to block his jump hook. No one in the nba right now can stop him 1v1, period. Look at the team who tried to play him straight up 1v1. D.Ho and Shaq have both tried to do that and they have failed 8/10 times. What i am trying to say is that he's not nearly as good as the Dream or the prime Shaq, but I do think that the fact he draws double and triple team on a daily basis is enough to earn him that max contract consider that he's not HORRIBLE in defense. He will never be as good as some of the HoF on the defensive end but i thought we all knew that from the beginning. The writer is picking his weakness to try to state he's overrated. It's just the same as picking on Oneal regarding how many of his missed free throws had lost the games for his team. No one's perfect and we just have to accept and make adjustment for him.

Yao at 22 million! OMG that is over paid! Yao makes 15 mill a year now and just based on his lack of physical health and lack of ability to maintain any trace of consistant performance against the Andre Blatche, Hakim Warwick, Kendrick Perkins and Troy Murphy types of the world I think he is over paid and over rated.

I like Yao and think he is a very good player but I would trade him for Al Jefferson so fast your head would spin. Why? Because Jefferson makes 4 millioin a year less, is locked up for 4 more years after this year, he is only 24, he is a superior rebounder, he is capable of playing up and down the court as well as in a half court game.....and so on. Oh and Jefferson scores 23 pts a game at 50% F/G shooting.

Yao is not worth more than Al Jefferson unless he seriously ratchets his game up.

    You guys are funny.

The ONLY objective measure of "worth" or value is if somebody is willing the pay. Everything else is simply opinion ...and opinions are worthless.

Yao is worth more if somebody is willing to pay. Simple as that.

Al Jefferson also shoots 20 shots a game to average 23 points. I agree that I wouldn't pay Yao 22 million but Yao is definitely worth more than Al Jefferson. He does everything better than him except rebound. The only reason I would trade Yao for Jefferson is because of age but also with the understanding that the team will lose more. Al Jefferson reminds me at times of Zach Randolph, a player with great stats but doesn't make his teammates better. Al is still young though so it's something he can get better at.

Yao is worth more than Jefferson because he earns more.

what does 'soft' mean? just because he can't play like the dunkers ? sore without dunk means soft??? because Yao could score with his own style..so he is Yao not others..why do you think the play style itself is a player's problem..you could say you don't like him or his style..but can't say the you-called 'soft' is Yao's disadvatage....He use his size to defend cause he has his own advantage to take , don't you think a C use his size to do the defence couldn't be something critisized? as long as he do the defence well.it's OK..
when he don't catch the ball,he spotaneously make room for teammates to get the ball.....and you think miss some easy dunks could be a problem? how many games would a NBA player have per week? can you avoid all the stupid/easy mistakes in your own week? every one is a man not God..

as a C. Yao's competants surely be other Cs......if better than others can't mean great? what is great mean?

no one could win a game alone in NBA,even the greatest players !!!!
Kobe,LJ won't get so much scoreing if they be a C or they get Yao's size (own this size, surely lose others,it's fair )..but they will still be great, because a great player is who have and use his own advantage

Why would the Lakers want a lumbering stiff at center when they already have 2 seven footers who are faster than him?

With that said, Yao is still a max player considering the players who have gotten max deals in the past. As slow as he is, he still changes the game when he plays.

Do people really consider him a superstar??? He is my favorite player nba and team wise but I don think he is superstar caliber......All star for sure. He can put up the points as those superstars listed but he has his limitations. He is big. Freakishly big and he can demand doubles on bad nights where as some superstars dont even get doubled when on fire. Honestly though you wont find superstars at Yao's height. Sorry but after 7 feet, every inch is just crucial. Yao is a beast. I find DH flashy and funner to watch but Yao is better.

you put all those number to support you talking, but you missed how often Al Jefferson gets double or triple defender treatment. Yao is slow on defence, but his size still make most of players hesitate to attack paint as long as Yao is in the court. That's why once a while ESPN highlight the dunking over Yao. Even with the National Award ( shown on TV), a few player were able to do that once a while. Once Yao is not in the court, did you see other team do?

This loser reporter is just one of the Yao haters, going way back to 2002 when Yao first joined the league. Somehow, I put more weights on Yao's teammates, opposing players, coaches and GMs around the NBA who think more highly of Yao than this hack!
