the writer obviously doesn't know what he's talkin about. If Yao was playing with Lebron right now, can you say NBA Championship?

logical fallacy though, if I played with Lebron we could probably get a championship as well.

you're probable right. but you won't see playing time for sure. however, no matter where yao goes, he will always be in the starting line for sure. :D

the guy has a point, yao has accomplished little in this league for a great center, be it personal stats or team success. yao's no kobe or lebron. but he is at least in the league of chris bosh and amare stoudemire. i don't see why the author singles yao out. and i don't have a problem with yao getting the max deal. he may not warrant it in terms of on-court performance, but then again guys like arenas and rashard lewis get 100M deals.

And what does playing better basketball have to do with Sarver/Suns' financial troubles?

To some rox fans who think Yao hasn't accomplished anything for Rox,
What have rox fans done for Yao? In your own crazy words,
Yao got voted into All Stars because of 1.3 billion Chinese voting for him.
Yao got max simply because of his marketability.
Yao is popular simply because of his marketability.
Yao brought a lot of money to Les and a lot of asian fans to Rox.
Yao got endorsements because he is freaking tall Chinese, with 1.3 b compatriots

it seems that rox fans DO NOT play critical roles in voting him into ASG, or increasing his marketability or filling up the Toyota center. You guys give people the impression that Yao actually brought more money to Les than what he has taken.

Based on your logic, why will Yao want to sign a 3-yr-50-M humiliation? Why? Is he stupid?

Good. You use him when he is young and dump him when he gets old.
That's good business. What if somebody else offers 4-year 68 M? Are you going to match it?

The Suns aren't in financial trouble, per se. But, the Suns' owner Sarver was hit hard by the economic downturn, and he really wants to unload the big contracts to get under the salary cap, especially since they have no real shot at a title.

Yao is doing better in the eyes of morons.

Previously, morons would just say "what is the big deal with Yao -- besides his marketability?". Now morons has realized that Yao is also a big deal with his SIZE. Very soon, morons will ask what the big deal with Yao -- besides playing great basketball. They do learn, right?

it sounds more like some suns players (such as Amare) are overpaid. If they were not overpaid, either they would have a shot at title or Suns boss would feel no burden to feed them.
