Whats the best buy : Xbox , Playstation 2, or Gamecube at $99.99 ?

If you're getting the game with the best season mode, go with 2k4/ESPN Basketball. They've made themselves famous off their season mode.

However, Live is supposedly making some earth-shattering Franchise mode too, so I don't know which one will be better for sure. Personally, I've always liked the Live series better though.

 

I'm looking into getting a B-Ball game for my recently-purchased PS2 as well. Obviously I'll want the one that reps the Rockets the best! Thusly, I'm interested in all of your answers, too.

 

any gamers out there that know of any new systems coming out?

 

Not for a few years i don't think. PS3 is due out in either '05 or '06, I can't remember which one it was.

 

OK, so what's the difference between a developer and a publisher?

 

I have the 'Cube and the XBOX.

Although I love the XBOX, I am amazed with what Nintendo is able to fit in such a small package. That said, the XBOX is hot, I am totally in to all the Clancy titles, especially now that XBOX went "Live." Nintendo is a great deal, but IMHO the XBOX is the best console.

 

RPG's focus on character development and storyline and item acquistion in addition to combat/gameplay; they tend to be longer and more intricate than your run of the mill 3rd person game.

They're an acquired taste; I don't like 'em that much but some of them, like Star Wars KOTOR, can just get you totally hooked.

ESPN Basketball/2k series used to be far and away better than NBA Live, but NBA Live has caught up some. ALso, people say NBA Inside Drive is pretty good. YOu can have full franchise mode in all three. Don't get NBA live if you want to play online, though, cause you can't with the xbox version.

 

I have XBOX, and wish I had a PS2 instead. If only because it has online play for EA Games, which is all I play.



It's funny how XBOX kept hyping up their online play, and they've been lapped in that regard by PS2.

 

x-box has been great for me. Enjoy.

 

Talk about screwed, I have GameCube and the the only thing that will do is 2k4. For basketball that is of course, so I guess I've got to look into getting an X-box or a Play.

 

Please explain how they have been lapped by PS2 other than for "some" of the games you play. XBox Live! is taking off with many games coming out in Nov. and Dec. with Live! capability.

I don't think XBox Live! is hype at all and I just wish to understand where your coming from. If PS2 is actually miles ahead of XBox as far as online capability, then please state why.

 

It's not; the only advantage PS Online has is that EA will support online for it and refuses to support it for xbox due to their little tiff with MS.

XBL, as far as a straight online system goes, is much better IMO, it's got XSN, all broadband so no lag, and doesn't seem to have the cheat problems that some PSOnline games seem to have (SOCOM has apparently been rendered unplayable due to Gameshark abuse)

The lack of online EA support is a negative, I agree, but I prefer Sega/ESPN/2k series anyway with the exception of NCAA football.

 

SamFisher pretty much summed up an RPG. I like them because the let YOU decide how the game plays. Nowadays, several games have RPG elements, especially the sports games. By playing with one player and getting him better at shooting or running, his stats will go up and will be unique since not all who play the game will have the same ratings. Basically let's you customize things.

Of course, in straight up RPGs, it is a lot more complictated. Depending on what items you use, how you fight, what you do, etc., different things will happen. Some good RPGs are any Final Fantasy, Xenogears/Saga, Star Ocean, Morrowind, and I'm sure plenty others I've somehow forgotten at the moment. Also, their are some strategy games put them in to put in even more...um...strategy.

I really like RPGs because I like thinking and hearing about some pretty good stories when I'm not scoring 150 ppg for the Rockets or throwing for 500yds with QC of the Cowboys.

 

Xbox. Nothing to explain. The fact is it's just better in MANY ways.

My tag is "Dave2000". I have a few Live games like NBA 2K3. NFL 2K3, Fever 2K3 and 2K4, Unreal Champ., Outlaw Volleyball, Capcom vs. SNK2, Midnight Club 2, and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder.

 

I have a PS2, and I really like it.

Today I was at GameStop and I picked up a Dreamcast, a game, and a memory card for 30 bucks. Can't beat that! I always thought Dreamcast was an awesome system.

 

Dreamcast was a great system, really ahead of its time. It pains me that Sega makes such great products but can't market them for sh-t.

 

I don't own any of the consoles at the moment but tomorrow starting on the 8 through the 14th of October all things over 30$ at KB Toystore will be 30% off their regular price. So those 99$ game cubes will only be 70 bucks. I dunno if they sell X-Boxes or PS2's over there but still 30% off 150 is always going to be better then paying 150. As it stands now I'm going to get a GameCube and hope for an X-Box this Christmas. There are a number of game titles that are probably old to some GC owners now that I haven't even touched that should keep me busy, and in addition to that, Viewitul Joe is going to come out next Monday I believe and that games going to be great. And for the Zelda fans out there, Nintendo is going to re-package and update older Zelda titles like Ocrana of Time and update their graphics. Was just thinking there will also be 30% off on those 50 dollar games as well.

 

Video games, consoles and accessories will not be discounted at KB Toy stores.
