i agree. if the front office feels that a championship is not possible with the current roster, then artest HAS to go. he's an expiring. we cannot let him walk and get nothing for him.

artest has to go, for the good of the team, if not now, then in the future.

HAHAHA you would be a horrible G.M. Look at it from both teams not just this one because you want T-Mac gone so bad. Who is going to play the point for the Hawks??? Come on you have to think.

if i am not mistaken, nash's contract expires in 2010, too. so another plus in terms of cap space.

    No bueno! I pass.

Anyone ever wonder why it seems we only deal with Memphis and Sac as far as trades go.

I wouldn't be surprised to get a big name at the deadline...a lot of owners out there are thinking contracts and salary cap with the economy hurting

you're right, if the hawks would take it for some reason, bibby would be a good fit. if it's someone that hasn't been discussed, perhaps it is john salmons.

john salmons - do not want

Okay im not too sure where you are getting this "BLOCKING" comment from, but thanks for the input.

So let me get this right, you want to replace 27 points a game,(ron+rafers ppg) for an old guy who will give you the same point total as Rafer Alston on most nights and now Nash will not even have a penitrating Ron Artest to "dish" the ball to, instead he will have to rely on Battier shooting from his corner, because the entire leage gives it up bc they know he wont drive.

Artest is a biggest trade asset but dont get Trade Happy and just find the first name to trade him for.

I don't understand why you're bringing up blocked shots when he says they play bad d.

We all know Nash is a major needed upgrade to PG but more than likely it wont be him. I suspect...

don't you think we HAVE to trade ron and get something for him since he's gonna walk? even if it's a crappy player and a draft pick, i may do it because i don't see a championship this year, and i'd rather get something than nothing.

it would suck to see us play without tracy and ron for the rest of the year, but even with ron, i don't see a championship. i'm not looking for 2nd round of the playoffs. all or nothing.

Agree no to Salmons but I just hope its not another wing player or power forward. Point guard and thats it. Packaged Rafer and Artest ( who is most likely to go because of his contract) for a great or good point guard ( not Hinrich ). The only wing player I would probably go after is Caron Butler or maybe Richard Jefferson since he is kind of a 2 way player.

sorry, i read the word "lock" in your post as "block". but my point stand. ab has defended billups well, too; does that mean billups is declining and fast?

if it is nash (i know it's just my wish) for rafer and ron, i'd do it in a nanosecond. when you get major upgrade in talent and skills, you do it and no questions asked. nash may be a bit older than his mvp years, but he's still a major upgrade for the crucial pg position. ron at this point is mainly an expiring; and for that matter he will have to be let go NOW.

The only players I can think of that have been rumoured to be on the block but haven't "been the subject of many rumors" are:

    Hedo Turkoglu
    Peja Stojakovic
    Tyson Chandler
    Richard Jefferson

Only RJ would come close to "would make almost all of you happy".

If we trade away Artest, that means more minutes for Von Wafer. Wafer is a far better penetrator.

This shouldn't even be a question for the Rockets. If the Suns are foolish enough to give up Nash for Artest and Alston, you make that trade in a heart beat. PG is far and away the weakest position for this team, and you'll be getting in return a player who's still one of the top 5 PGs in the league.

And saying we're losing "27 points" with Artest and Alston gone is an entirely bogus argument. Every shot they attempt is a shot some other player on the team could be taking. And with Nash on the floor, those shots will usually be much more efficient.

I think that Morey knows alot more than we do, and if he know Ron is going to walk then he is going to dangle him out there and analyze what value he has to us.

If we get rid of Ron we need one of a few things.

1)young players with small contracts/draft picks
2)players with multiple years left on a deal(that wont be 40 when it expires)

No sense in making a trade for another expiring contract, that would be like trading Ron Artest for Ron Artest.

I have faith in Morey, since he has been around he has shown that he wants to make this team a champion.

Maybe it involves Alston. That would make almost everyone happy.
