Updated: List of facts from Solomon's blog about this mystery rumor: -it doesn't involve McGrady -it doesn't involve Caron Butler -the talks were preliminary and it is unlikely to happen -he includes a reference to an article in the same blog saying Nash is likely untouchable -"It can't be a straight-up deal, but as for coming this way, there is only one star-level player in the mix." (Solomon's own words) -asked why the deal is unlikely to happen, Solomon said, "It takes two to tango." (one party may not be interested) -Scola or Landry will most likely be involved in any significant deals (and his rumor sounds like it would be significant) -"I said from the start that if anything would happen it would be in the next few days, not the next few hours. I didn't mean it like the kind of tease that you needed to sit on the edge of your seat for. I thought I made it clear that you would jump out of your seat if it happens, and be darned upset if it doesn't. Relax, it is not going to happen in the next couple of days. Because of the All-Star Game gathering, info on it might get out before then." -- Solomon -some of Solomon's comments also make it sound like it clearly isn't Nash
Not sure if Im allowed to say the site. but i was reading on another site that it was said on a radio station in houston that it was Scola+ Artest for boozer. Now before you start pmsing, I dont find it reliable, I just thought I'd let you guys know. me for one, I wouldnt do it because he is injured.....And because Utah is our Rivals for the last two seasons "/
The '10 FA class is a once in a lifetime class. Even if you don't land a Wade or a Lebron, there's still many young quality FA's you'd want to add to your team, The difference between the Rockets and a lot of other teams is Mac's contract alone is 20M. Teams are trading for a big expiring in time for '10 and Mac alone is one and a half/two. Also, we'll have Yao to help entice these FA's. Guys can go to other teams who are depleted by trying to create room, but the Rockets will have a legit big man already in place to make a better pitch.
Already brought up by drich several pages ago: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4233431&postcount=348 He also gave us the link: http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116917 That sounds like total bogus to me for multiple reasons.
Please don't trade Scola. Also, the deal doesn't involve McGrady and it won't be Andre Miller or Mike Miller or the sorts since Solomon mentioned that there will be 1 star level player coming our way. Here are my guesses: Jefferson Iverson Carter Gordon Deng Butler(doubt it but a small window is open) Bosh(highly doubt but nothing can be concluded witnessing the Raptors situation) Nash(possible?) Maggette B. Davis Martin GAY(!?!?) Stoudamire Rudy Gay might make sense as he was reportedly offered to the Suns for Stoudamire and Rockets fans all wish we could've kept him.
He's not up until 2011....That 17 million cap number in 2010 will pretty much kill our chances of landing any one of those big name free agents in 2010.
sounds like a 3-team deal (which is harder to pull off)? in any case, artest+landry for a "star player" sounds intriguing.
Joe is that old? I didn't know that. But take a look at the '10 class and pick one or two FA's from that bunch and that's who the Rockets can possibly get if they hold onto Mac's contract. That's the gist of my reasoning. Nobody is going out of their way to trade for Mac and we shouldn't jeopardize to really solidify this team after next year just trading Mac for the sake of trading Mac. Especially considering who'd we get from trading him now wouldn't even necessarily make us serious contenders anyway
ok why not go after carmelo or someone in the rookie class now in 2011.....OJ Mayo will be there in 2011...Plus he will be an expiring contract which is always good to use when you are looking for a big name player....It is not all bad I don't think
Honestly, no. Only 3 players in league history have shot at least 50% from the field, 40% from the 3-point range, and 88% from the line in multiple seasons. Bird did it 3 times. Hornacek (another great shooter I forgot to mention) did it 4 times. And Nash just did it four times in a row. Nash is the the only player to shoot 50% from the field, 45% from the 3-point line, and 88% from the line in multiple seasons, and he did it back to back the last two years. Those are the numbers. I think they warrant him being in the discussion. Nash gets a lot attention for his passing, but his shooting has been very much underrated. If I could line up all the players in the NBA history in a shooting contest from various spots on the floor, I think Nash would be as good a choice as any to win it.
Because their teams can offer them the most. The '10 class is deep. Has anybody looked at the list? You can't tell me the Rockets, with cap space and with Yao solidified as one of the best C's in the game on the roster, cannot attract at least one or two FA's from the list
