I don't think anybody else brought up Rasheed in this thread or I missed it if they did. Now that would make a lot of sense. Rasheed is exactly the kind of 4 that would be able to spread the floor for Yao. He is also a far better defensive player than Scola or Landry. The base of the package would be Artest + Scola for Rasheed.
If its someone who hasnt been involve in trade rumors, could it be Ben Gordon? Im guessing its a veteran because no team right now would trade any of its promising young players
For those saying trade T-Mac, who can we realistically get that will make us a serious threat? I rather keep him, let his number come off, and roll the dice on a Wade, Lebron, etc. Sure, we may not get a Wade or Lebron but we deserve the right to make a pitch. As oppose to flushing down our chance a year and a half early by trading Mac now.
if we trade scola and artest for sheed I will flip out and Sheed is one of my favorite players. DON'T TRADE SCOLA!
i don't think we're trading tracy at all. he's an expiring contract in 2010. and i'm sure morey understands tracy will get healthier next yr and will play well, since it's his contract year (thus having one more year with the tracy-yao era). however, if tracy doesn't man up this year, just sit him out and move on. let yao slowly take more of a leadership role. i don't think we're going to get wade or lebron b/c those teams are building around those guys pretty good and they get more money from their teams. but we can get other guys or we can save up that capspace for future years. morey is a smart guy. i would trust him to do the right things for this franchise.
<br> I was actually seriously thinking Luol Deng or Ben Gordon. List of people it could be: Vince Carter Allen Iverson Andre Miller Ben Gordon Luol Deng Amar'e Shaq Josh Howard Mike Miller ..idk?
Personally (not that it matters what I think), I'd be willing to give up... Artest or Battier + Scola or Landry as the base in a deal for Rasheed. There would have to be at least one other player from each side though to make it work numbers-wise though.
Actually, aside from the whole same division thing, Josh Howard would make a lot of sense. The Mavs don't really want him, they need a defensive stopper type, who can still fill up the stat sheet (Artest). Just saying..
Again - does it make business sense to field a last place team paying the luxury tax? If they don't trade Butler or Jamison - is there anyone else on that roster ANYONE would want? They lowered ticket prices by 11% this year (by far the most of any team this past year) yet they will soon be paying the luxury tax in a small market. It just doesn't make business sense to field their current roster regardless of all your attachments as a fan. While you may be right that they don't trade him or maybe the Rockets don't have enough to get him, I don't think its out of the realm of possibility that the Wizards will be looking to do something to cut some contracts soon and you gotta think if they are desperate enough, they will have to give up someone good to make it happen....besides, like I said - I saw it suggested by an ESPN analyst first (can't remember if it was Hollinger or Ford or someone else) so I'm not just some delusional Rockets fan.
So basically your saying the rockets are going to gamble on the rest of this season to keep T-Mac and his supposed knee problem by trading players who are actually willing to play with intensity and effort. In my opinion its a mistake to keep building around T-Mac. When one of your main soldiers is unwilling to fight for you, its time to get rid them. If the rockets make a big move I would be shocked if T-Mac was not part of it.
My list has some that was kind of the same Vince Carter Mike Miller Andre Miller Ben Gordon Chris Bosh Chris Wilcox Antione Jamison Caron Butler Stephen Jackson
Scola can still back up Yao and backup Sheed and 2 of the 3 can be on the floor at all times. Scola won't lose too many minutes. This is actually one trade that DOES improve our team's chances of winning it all this season. Sheed will improve our defense, spread the floor more on offense, and give us someone with championship experience.
