If the rockets want to deal artest because they are not liking the fit/get something better, that's one thing. But if they are doing it because of his free agent status, I think they need to look at the market again. Artest will want a contending team: That eliminates: NY, NJ, Toronto, Chicago, Milwaukee, Indiana, Washington, Charlotte, LAC, GSW, Sacramento, Memphis, OKC, MIN. Also, let's figure teams he played on before houston aren't interested. That eliminates Indiana. Now let's add teams that either don't have playing time or money for him. Detroit(plus the brawl), Cleveland, Denver, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Dallas, SA, NO, Phoenix. That leaves Philly, Portland, the Lakers and the Rockets as his preferred destinations. Portland isn't going to pay him with their young talent, and the same goes for Philly. The lakers only would be a threat if they let odom walk and they have enough players vying for touches. If the rockets want Artest back beyond next season, they have very good odds of retaining him.
i am not seeing the other stuff that you were reading get back at me and let me know where the other stuff is...
Thanks, that's what I figured. Didn't know if he was some poster here too or not. Plus, the blog part threw me off for some reason.
how do you know my full name? (seriously, my moniker does NOT stand for that company.) both fran and feigen have stated the team likely will not sign artest after the season. so your argument got a wrong premise. ron has had more bad games and more 1-on-5 moments than otherwise in houston. it's not what we need. that's why people say he doesn't fit. and what does trading artest have to do with whether or not we trade others?
Everything in this list was pulled from that blog with the exception of the highlighted one. Most of it was pulled from his responses to comments below the article. -the potential incoming player hasn't been involved in many rumors -the deal would be appealing to most Rockets fans -it doesn't involve McGrady -it doesn't involve Caron Butler -the talks were preliminary and it is unlikely to happen -he includes a reference to an article saying Nash is likely untouchable in the same blog -it's going to promote the hell out of his blog on ClutchFans -"It can't be a straight-up deal, but as for coming this way, there is only one star-level player in the mix." (Solomon's own words) -asked why the deal is unlikely to happen, Solomon said, "It takes two to tango." (one party may not be interested) -Scola or Landry will most likely be involved in any significant deals (and this rumor sounds like it would be significant)
i saw that last part, too. i'm guessing it's Ron + Landry (= $11.45 million) for "one star-level player" and possibly filler. that could be: (1) hinrich + thabo/cedric simmons (2) rip + dice/afflalo (unlikely, if artest is going to DET) (3) sjax + turiaf/azubuike/randolph (4) mike miller + brewer (5) chandler (6) iggy (7) caron + filler
1, 4, and 5 are not star level returns. I wouldn't move ron for those 3 packages. and as you said 2 is highly unlikely.
sorry, nix #7 - i forgot Solomon mentioned that Wash wasn't listening to any offers regarding him (yet).
My guess Landry because he is from Milwauke. Landry/Artest for Sessions/Villanueva or Sessions/Jefferson
i agree with you about Mike Miller, Hinrich, and maaaayyybe Chandler. however, Iguodala & Stephen Jackson are pretty legit now. they are the stars of their respective teams.
no. Landry/Artest = $11.45 million Sessions/Villanueva = $4.15 million [no star player] Sessions/Jefferson = $13.9 million http://hoopshype.com/salaries/milwaukee.htm
I could care less what Feigen and Fran said. What about the other questions I asked? Here they are again: Why not trade one of the other players that are playing much poorer than Artest? Alston, Head, Battier, Hayes, and/or Dorsey? Also, who's going to guard the other team's elite wing player in the playoffs? Please don't say Battier. His play is laughable this year.
