When opportunity knocks, you got to answer the door, and that is what Parsons has done. I'm tired of hearing people talk about potential and which player they think is best. Parsons is doing it on the court when it counts.

This might be a meaningless observation, but the Rockets are 6-2 since starting Parsons, and those two losses were close games (Thunder by 3, Spurs in OT).

There is nothing great about him, but there are tons of things above average, and that starts with his defense and rebounding, which we need at the SF spot.

He is like a better Battier...

His work ethic and effort on the court are great. Both things that every player has control of but that many never utilize.

I couldn't agree more. I didn't know a thing about him before, but he has duly impressed me. I love those putbacks as well. He's even made his own trademark in the league throwing putbacks down on the likes of griffin and mcgee.

For the first time this season he looked sluggish and was not playing with the same fire .... Does anyone know if he was sick or injured ??? Or just tired from the brutal schedule ??

I think you answered your own question. It's going to be an ugly game out there tonight if McHale keeps playing our starters at 40+ minutes a night.

I would classify his rebounding at the SF position under the great category where his rebounding rate is 2nd. The Rockets have climbed within the top 5 in rebounding rate since Parsons has started. Mind you, this is with Scola being 65th in rebounding rate.

This is from Thorpe's new rookie rankings... Parsons moved up to 4!

    4. Chandler Parsons, Rockets
Parsons doesn't have the gaudy stats like some of the rookies ranked below him, but he's been a big reason Houston has won five straight games and gotten back into the playoff race.

On a team with three top scorers, Parsons plays his role as a defensive force, rebounder and ball mover to near perfection for a rookie. Among starting small forwards, he ranks tied for third in the NBA in defensive rebound rate behind Marvin Williams and LeBron James. He's even better on the offensive glass, second among all small forwards behind Shawn Marion. Wow.

Wow, that's awesome for the 38th pick to be performing like a top 4 rookie.

Can you list the other top 10 rankings?

I hope this guy works on his shot like Lowry did. There was a time when Lowry couldn't make a basket.

Parsons game reminds me of a James Posey type.

With Lowry, Scola,Martin on the court at the same time he will be getting open shots but he needs to make em before we consider him a solid starter.

Yes, I know he is tearing up the D-league before his injury...but still....both these guys are in that odd possible SF/PF size/athleticism range. I just think it's interesting they kept Parsons up and sent Morris down....I mean obviously it was the right call.

even the sportscenter anchors commented on that the other day... something to the effect of "parsons becoming a mainstay on the top 10"

Oh but he is white. He can only be compared to Ryan Bowen or Larry Bird. He is better than Ryan Bowen, so I will go with Bird. :)
