They do. Kobe always smoked Battier. Parsons, at this point, hasn't really shut anyone down to be called a defensive specialist.
Can anyone explain on this board why you were all so high on Chandler Parsons? He looks lost out there. I might be too harsh on him but you guys all hyped him up so much that I was excited to seeing his game. Very shocked by his performances.
He played great last season and seemed like he'd worked on his game a lot in the offseason. So far, he's been lackluster offensively, but he's still been rebounding and passing well. We're only three games in, though. Terribly small sample size. Not everyone can be James Harden and come into the season with all cylinders firing. People need to calm the **** down.
Chandler has a lot of talent. He has a great feel for the game, and with his height, can get great looks for his 3. What he lacks, IMHO, is a killer instinct. He's especially tentative driving to the basket. Perhaps some time spent in the weight room would help. But a lot of it is psychological; his confidence and hence his aggression are seriously lacking right now.
Yeah, I am not so high on him. He makes very amateurish mistakes trying to be a playmaker. I don't expect him to be an scorer, but at least to be able to convert consistently. Also, his jumpshot has been off (and ugly). A good passer and active rebounder, his skillset is better suited coming off the bench at this point of his career. Unfortunately, we don't have the manpower for that luxury.
Right now we don't have ANYONE besides Harden playing multi-dimensional Parsons is compensating with boards when other stuff isnt going on. Same with Lin, compensate with effort. Asik gives boards and thats it. Morris is scoring and not much else. Douglas is getting steals and NOTHING ELSE. Patterson gives decent D and nothing else. Players need to starting having complete games. Only Harden and Morris have exceeded any expectations, everyone else is what they thought we were or below
Parsons is not catching balls off the rim and dunking, he's not Doing things consistently he just looks overrated. He needs competition McHale needs to play the rookies. Mix it up but Parsons needs practice time with Harden and I don't understand how he could play so garbage when Harden is setting him up to play better with open shots.
Right, its what I meant to say in that. Parsons is not alone in looking NON-dynamic. Past some instant Harden and Lin chemistry, the whole team hasnt looked that crisp. I knew to calm down the Parsons hype rhetoric. Someone said he could DOUBLE his scoring from 9.5. That's 20 points a game lol http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7263300&postcount=31 And it just shows how sometimes preseason play doesnt transfer over. Parsons, Asik and Toney Douglas were confident offensive players in the preseason, now they can't even make point blank layups. Parsons hasnt been BAD. I'll take 12 rebounds. He's just what he is, tall for his position with good IQ, decent athleticism and a few all around skills but none of them elite. A level headed Trevor Ariza
I know he is talking about Parsons. I was disagreeing with the notion that Parsons is 24 & won't get better. That is incorrect. What player peaks at 24?
He isn't having a sophomore slump. He just hasn't been shooting well but he was never a great shooter any way. He is grabbing boards. He makes some questionable decisions int transition when he is handling the ball but he will learn needs to calm down a little. Aside from that I like Parsons I think he has a lot of game.
Hearing him and Patterson talking about going to Roak after the game during pre-game shootaround? That's that shh I don't like.
To me he seems as though he is acting out. It use to be he/Lin, now it's Harden/Lin. he is acting no his usually self on the court.
The team just needs more time to build chemistry, so far so good - biggest issue was legs were gone and the team was gassed. The only solution I could have seen was to input the rookies for 15-20 min to run the trailblazers into the ground.
