who said anything about scoring? i see him turning over the ball , missing easy shots, falling all over teh floor, playing bad defense etc etc. I seen both games and his overall game is struggling right now
Theres plenty of reasons he may not get better. Don't be ridiculous. We don't know how he'll pan out at this point. It's still a waiting game
Well said. From a basketball standspoint he's played about average. I like you don't get too involved in the hype and focus on basketball
He is a glue guy, and his size, defense, and versatility are real assets. But I think he's far from being a star, and I actually think he's more of a excellent role player than a starter. He can be a starter on a team like the heat or Lakers, where thy have 3 to 4 allstaresque options, ala Battier, but on a team like ours, I think his lack of scoring ability ends up being a huge liability. He's young so I think he can get better, but he needs to improve his shot dramatically. We just give up too much scoring potential when Asik, Pat, and Parsons re on the floor together. Until we get more offense from those positions I think his shooting woes really limit our upside.
Parsons just needs to stop trying so hard. There were several times when he turned the ball over when he was initiating the fastbreak or got stuffed when he drove to the basket with a guy on him. At this point in his development, he's more effective when someone else sets him up.
OK. Taking it from the top here. There are two sides to every basketball game. Offense and defense. They are of equal importance. Most fans only watch the ball. Some though will hone in on a player and follow them for large portions of the game on both sides of the ball. Before you start critiquing a players game you really should study them on defense. I know, looking at the ball is soooo tempting. But until you start watching a player on defense you really only know about half of his game. So, back to Parsons. An 12/6/5 offensive line is more than enough to justify him starting on an NBA roster. Taking it from a different angle: Asik was 0-7 last night. Did he have a horrendous game, or was he by far and away the second most valuable player on the Rocket's roster?
Yup. Glue guys are pretty essential on every team. That plus he's very active all the time and solid in all aspects of the game, plus some fantastic passing. I can't ever imagine I'll complain about Parsons.
It was just the initial asking price for Harden from Presti. Adding Parsons actually made no sense to Thunder. They already have Thabo Sefolosha who plays the same role as Parsons, except Thabo Sefolosha is an ungrade of Parsons. Their role overlaps one another. People can say about Harden, Durant, or WB performances against the Spurs, but it was Sefolosha who turned the tide during Game 3 of that series. Thunder was down 0-2 and if it weren't for Brooks placing the lockdown defender Thabo Sefolosha on Parker, Spurs probably wouldve swept them instead of losing the next four games! Yes, every championship team needs a player like Thabo Sefolosha, Shane Battier, or Chandler Parsons. Their role is just as important as anyone else on the team! Parsons might be hitting his 'sophomore wall.'
He doesn't score nor even put himself in opportunities to score when off the ball well. He's headed towards the Battier route at this rate.
Bull****. Glue guys are the guys you settle for. And glue guys are the worst guys to have on a young team.
Someone needs to tell Parsons the Tale of Chase Budinger which is a cautionary tale about a young kid much like himself, who went out and parties too much, instead of focusing on his career.
Did I say anything about glue guys? Parsons and Sefolosha are defensive specialists. That's what they do and their role is to lock down on opposition scorer. Without those guys on a team, Kobe and Durant will have a field day!
Parsons, as with the rest of the team, is still getting familiar with his new teammates and the system. As time goes on Parsons will find his place in the offence and become a valuable contributor. I've always looked at Parsons as the white Robert Horry. No need to panic just yet.
Parsons is getting okay stats but the problem is his mistakes are big ones. He's getting stuffed at the rim constantly or he loses his handles which leads to a fast break on the other side.
