have you ever played tennis? Definitely a sport. Golf is not. And I dont really think baseball is either, mainly standing around and not doing much. Football- its debatable, especially since there are different units (very few players play both ways in the NFL)
That sounds eerily close to NCAA Division One football. Replace "judges" with "voters" and "Uzbekistan" with "computers." Sure, the teams my play it out on the field to "win" individual games, but not championships.
the WWE wrestling is not a sport, its entertainment, but not sport. a sport has to have real competition, not fake and scripted matches.
Yep, it's a physical and mental activity. Some of the joystick and button combos are hard to do. You also have to have excellent vision.
If you think that competitive golf doesn't require physical strength, speed, and stamina, you don't know golf. What weekend joes do while they drive a golf cart around and drink beer has as little resemblance to the top level of the sport as throwing the football in the parking lot has to do with the NFL. It's also the purest professional sport in the world, as there are no bad contracts and each player gets paid exactly what he deserves for his performance for the year relative to his peers. Pro golfers also deal with some of the most pressure of any athletes, knowing that one screwup could cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars - or lose their position at the top level of the sport. It is competition and it demands a very high level of mental and physical perfection. SPORT
What's not a sport thread? I'd have to say Polyester... and recommend a change to cotton. sincerely, Spoiler
Chess is also a sport then. You have to be able to nudge little figurines across a board. And, moving the knight can be quite difficult, often requiring you to lift him up over the other pieces while simultaneously counting 2 squares in one vector and 1 square in another vector. And castling... forget it. Let's put spelling bees back in, too. You could still participate if you were a paraplegic, but you still need to exhale and tense your vocal chords to do it. That's a physical exertion and requires good control on your vocal chords.
