It's great - some say their best album so far. It's first record I get from. The melodies are even better then before. Some anthems on it. Check it out if you can. It's worth.

Next time I think we ought to go with "Best CD's You've Bought Lately" and give a brief description. That could cut down on the volume and weed out some of the 'just OK' stuff that we just happened to shuffle through.

It could better serve as network of music and less of a ego deal (where some folks try to post the most obscure stuff to look cool........you know who you are)

gene peterson: based on your first post I think you'd really be into the Black Keys. Give them a shot.

My wife and I are currently enjoying a cd of old television show theme songs. They are great after a few beers.

They were on Conan last night, much to my delighted surprise, with John Paul Jones on bass!

If you really like Nickel Creek check out mandolinist Chris Thile's Not All Who Wander Are Lost. Best album I ever heard.

I don't know, I like the obscure odd stuff. It's usually the album or group I hunt down and end up buying. Hayseed Dixie should thank this BBS for my purchase of their 3 albums.

DCKid - What do you think of the new Hives? I just don't get into it like I did their last album.

I just got Comets On Fire's Blue Cathedral. It's as if The Who made an album based solely on the jam interludes and outros of Live at Leeds.

Is this CD called Televisions greatest hits? I have this one and you are right about the thing "....after a few beers".

Your Idea about a "Best CD's you've bought lately" thread could work. The problem as always with music is that there is no accounting for taste. So how can we judge what is "just ok" stuff and what is not?

I guess I am "some folks". So what else should I post then stuff that actually IS in my CD player? If there is obscure stuff then there is. I just cannot fake it and write down just bands like Metallica, BRMC, Strokes, Nerd, DMB, Jay-Z, etc. (not that I don't like some of this bands ;) ) I think you get my point.

If there is a topic that touches your interest you want to show it right? If someone asks something about car-insurances or BBQ recipes then the ones who know something about it share it. I guess there are many threads where there are "some folks" and I don't think its a ego deal to look cool or something like that.

I just got the Collateral soundtrack and it's pretty good so far, except some of the songs are too short, less than 2 mins. I'll have to check out Antonio Pinto so more.

Right now I am listening to "A Tribute to Jack Johnson" by Miles and will follow that with a little Coltrane in "The Ultimate Blue Train".

Inches is pretty good but the Plastic Constellations' Mazatlan is a far better album of comparable music (though far more Pavement-inspired).

How do you like Ratatat? They're playing with Mouse on Mars at Fat Cat's on October 13.
