1. Cool, jazz! 2. I've been working on some crazy mixes that include a number of acoustic blues songs from the 20s and 30s. 3. Most recent CD purchase is a Randy Rogers CD that I picked up last night at the Duck. By the way, that was the worst behaved crowd I've ever seen at the Mucky Duck. They must have thought they were at the Firehouse.

How is their CD? I nearly picked it up at Target the other day, but decided not to. I love "Float On", but I'm hoping they are more than a one hit wonder.
Prince- Musicology Erykah Badu- Worldwide Underground Black Sabbath- Greatest Hits (Since my funk band went the way of Rick James, I'm starting a heavy metal band tenatively known as Metal Siege. I just need a singer, another guitarist and a bass player.) Metalica- Master of Puppets Danzig- Lucifuge (We want to have a blues-heavy sound that crunches, imagine GNR without the horns and whacko Axl.)
Modest Mouse has been more than a one-hit wonder for about a decade now. The Moon and Antarctica is their best (and some would argue one of the best albums of the last five years, but for me it's too exhausting, like everything else they release) followed by...I don't know...probably This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About. Get some Shins instead.
anyone got the new Milo cd..... my radio station has it as the feature album of the week, damn another sweet scotish band... damn catchy disco tunes
I second that emotion! The Eagles of Death Metal debut is on point. Josh Homme plays the drums for them, I think, and does some songwriting. They rock and have a clearly great sence of humor. On my recent playlist: -Going through a weird minor Paul McCartney/Wings album phase-this week, "London Town" and "Wings at the Speed of Sound" -Mcluskey, produced by Steve Albini...some sort of brutal punk rock in the mode of the Liars. -2Pac, "All Eyes on Me" -Elvis Costello, "Kojak Variety" remastered Rhino thing
Guess I'm going to have to pick that up! I love Nickel Creek! Saw them open for Willie Nelson a couple of years ago. At the time I had never heard of them. They were amazing! thanks rud
Actually I'd call the moon and antarctica one of their worst and most people, myself included, consider The Lonesome Croded West to be their best. Quit reading allmusic.

hey what a great memory you have. Yes I have it for quite some time now and this record rules. Funny and amazing happend last tuesday. I was at a friends house and he was spinning this record with the mighty old music. Then all of a sudden there was this song I remembered to have it heard. I realized it was a song that is also on the Eagles of Death Metal CD. When asking my friend what this band is he said it is DOCK BOGGS - Sounds from 1927-1929. Amazing banjo stuff. I give credit to Josh Homme for getting his head in such rootsy stuff. New CD's I bought: Phoenix - Alphabetical Yes - fragile Hall & Oates - abandoned lunchonette Bohren & der Club of Gore - midnight radio Charles Mingus - mingus mingus mingus the Zutons - kill the zutons Kenny Dope - breakbeats vol. 1 Take Five - various interpretations of Take Five Donavon Frankenreiter - s/t Flapper, Vamps and sweet young things - various interprets Nouvelle Vague - various interprets (punk and new wave songs in bossa nova style) beatsteaks - smack smash moneybrother - blood panic coffee and cigarettes - soundtrack lila downs - one blood (una sangre) and LUCKY JIM - Our troubles end tonight (my favourite record at the moment)
