What's considered a "bust"?

    true....I think a player should be given 3 years to develop...

    as far as expectations, unfortunately what you said is nice and sounds good to say, but the reality is that he is going to be expected to be one of the top centers in the league being drafted number 1. championships and statistics are what we measure players by!

    if in the next 3-4 years, if he is not in the top 5 in scoring and/or rebounding/blocks and remaining consistent (see Mutombo for rebounding and blocks), he is a bust.

    I do not worry about whether he should average 16 or 25 points....just be in the statistical category where we have one of the best centers in the game at that time and that is not a bust....

    Man I can't help but think of all the Steve bashers on this one. I mean did he not have a prodigious year his rookie year. That is what is absolutely not considered a bust. I really honestly believe that Yao can put up about 12 pts. and 8 rebounds in his first year. And by the way a bust could be considered a Mirsad Turkan or however you spell his name.

    Actually a bust is a balloon with a pin stuck in it. Of course you could say some players resemble balloons.
