Um, No. Shaq had one more year on his contract which they could've kept him and let him go for nothing for some cap relief, or they could've signed and traded him. Since they rushed it, they ended up getting shafted on their own terms. They had a choice, they just rushed and made the wrong one to appease the wrong guy.
Kobe's got some scoring talent and good stamina. But I just can't stand lakers fans and Kobe d**k suckers eh !
I didn't see the whole game, but the highlights and I think this is one of the greatest performances in the history of the game (even better than 81 pt game). Even though, alot of players have scored 60 pts. in game. Kobe did it when he had to, the Lakers were trailing most of the game (late into 4th quarter) and endanger of losing 8th straight game (less than 24 hrs. after losing by nearly 30 pts. Falling near the bottom of playoffs seeding with most of team looking terrible, Kobe hits fadeway almost out near 3-pt line and another one with like a minute left in game. He completely takes over in OT. I'm not Kobe fan, but he is the unquestionable best player in the NBA today. It's not Lebron, Dirk, or Nash. Kobe pretty much put the team on his back last night and won the game to end 7 game losing steak. No other player in the game today can takeover a game like that.
You ever see Wade play? He won't score 60 points in a game, but he will score the final 17 points of a game against the Pistons, for example. When it comes to 4th quarter domination, Wade is as good as Kobe and Ben Gordon isn't far behind. When it comes to dropping 50-60 points on someone, Kobe clearly stands ahead of anyone right now. The fact he had to do it at home against the Blazers says something. It says the Lakers are in deep trouble and that the Blazers look promising going forward. Nate McMillan is a good coach.
Kobe is definitely clutch. He singlehandedly put an end to that losing streak, that's what great players do
I disagree with that. He's definitely the most capable scorer in the game today and he has better stamina than almost any other superstar I can think of (young King James included). On nights like this, he's the best there is in the game. But unlike most NBA fans, I don't equate scoring tons of points with being the "best in the game"; that's a common misconception.
Amazing he isnt the best player of this generation, let alone Hasn't won an MVP Has yet to lead his team past round 1 Come into top 3 in efficiency PER Yet he's the greatest
Hasn't won an MVP Has yet to lead his team past round 1 Come into top 3 in efficiency PER Yet he's the greatest ---------------------------------------------- The MVP is kinda tainted nowadays, not just in basketball but other sports as well. If the writers are voting the awards, you know that they are going to be biased, you might as well have the fans voting on the awards. Nash is good player, but 3 MVPs is a bit much for him. So far, he has more MVPs than all of the following players: Shaq Garnett LeBron Kobe Kidd Iverson R.Allen Yao T-Mac Retired Players: Cousy Stockton Dream Magic (as many if, he wins it this year) West Maravich Hawkins Thomas, I. Wilkins Archibald And most of these players are arguably better than he is.
Spot on, it seems like the fact that this game was against the Blazers seems to have flown over everyone's head. Roy is a nice player, but he'll probaly nevr be a great defender atleast not at the two, and he's a rookie.
The present Kobe is like Dominique in the 80s. When Nique was in a zone, every crazy shot he put up would go in, and nobody could stop him. But his team sucked. And unlike Kobe, he had never played with anyone near the caliber of Shaq to win anything.
yeah, b/c the blazers have given up so many other 65 point games this season. just like the raptors were always giving up 81 point games. once you get up around 60, it doesn't matter who you're doing it against. it's not as if this is the first time someone's played a subpar defense this year.
I wish T-Mac would take over games like he used to, then he could be in this conversation. He's still clutch, but not with that aura that he used to have. I remember when 5 down with 1:00 left was not such a big deal if you had T-Mac on your team... Anyways: Dropping points: Kobe bar none. Taking over games: Nash first, and then Wade and Kobe. Wade struggled without Shaq, but at least he didn't let his team lose 7 straight.
Tmac doesn't care about jacking up 40 shots man. You should know that. How many times has he said he could care less about scoring a bunch of points? Give me the man who makes the right decisions 100% of the time because he is most likely the guy of the two who's team will win more games.
But you getta accept the fact that Tmac is not as good as Kobe when the fate of your team is on the line, he is good, but just not as good as Kobe.
I know throwing up 40 shots doesn't cross T-Mac's mind...anymore. I would rather have T-Mac making decisions with the ball than anyone in the league except Steve Nash, that's true. Even over LeBron. I was just saying how I wish T-Mac would take over games like he used to, that's all. That doesn't require 40 shots, just at the end dominate the ball. However, T-Mac has a knack for making the right play, getting the ball to the right guy, instead of taking his own shot. He also has capable teammates too. T-Mac passed the ball up to an open 3 point shooter in Luther Head and we won the game. If T-Mac forced the shot, yes McGrady can make some difficult shots, but if he misses then the game is pretty much over. He got an easier shot for a teammate who can knock it down. I don't think Kobe could do that, and against teams with good defensive philosophy, I don't think he can run them over with 81, 65, etc. I don't know how he dropped 62 on the Mavs but they weren't as good last season when he played them as they are now. For the last two seasons, yeah probably. But before that, T-Mac's athleticism matched with his ability to hit tough shots made him just as good in my opinion. Although you're right because T-Mac has stopped (for whatever reasons) going to the rim hard. You can count on Kobe to do that when it counts and Kobe is definitely a better FT shooter than T-Mac.
Last years Raptors probaly could have done that any number of nights, its like when Robinson went off on the Clippers, did they really care after awhile? Nope, I was watching the Raptors/Lakers game, they weren't even bringing double teams, so take it fir what its worth. I remember T-Mac had a big game against the Blazers earlier this year, I remember that there was nothing they could do to stop him, I'm sure if the Rockets were as bad as the Lakers he could have put up a game that was similiarly impressive.
