I was just about to say. I'm always surprised there's not more love for Subarus. I love my Impreza Outback and I've driven my brother's Subaru sedans, which have a lot of punch, handle great, and are dependable.

LoL I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to say it. My first car was a 79 280zx and have always been a Z fan....of course now I am onto other cars but it still remains in my heart.

I don't know about newer models, but older models had reliability issues (engine problems) that were rampant from what I recall.

Pre-owned 350z or g35 seems like the way to go. 350z is a two-seater of course which has its drawbacks.

I have an Acura TL (6 speed manual transmission). It might be hard to find this car used.

For the money and price point right now the Infiniti G35 coupes are amazing cars. I was looking into one before I bought my present car.

Yes it is.. esp with Navi. It comes out of the dash.

Infiniti stock 19's are nice as well. No need for aftermarket rims really.

Before I bought my Si a couple of weeks ago, I was really seriously considering a GTI. On driving experience and appearance alone, I was leaning GTI for sure. What it basically came down to, other than the fact that an Si was less of a hassle to find, was that I was too concerned about the GTI's long term reliability. I did a lot of reading and there seemed to be many stories about cars that were basically lemons. Plus I saw several people comment that their turbo went out at 85k or below...seems way too low to me.

I think it's because Subarus were usually considered utilitarian/no-nonsense vehicles. I expect skinny, mountain-climbing, tofu eaters to drive them. (not that there's anything wrong with that! :D) I think they market to a niche market of people, and those people usually go for Hondas and Toyotas because of the ratings they get in places like Consumer Reports and JD Power.

Hmm... I have an '04 with 121,000 miles... it's been pretty reliable and fun to drive. :) I can't stand the new ones, though.

Sometimes when I'm drunk I'll talk about how I want to get a Baja. I know my friends with Imprezas plan for their "adult stage" car to be the legacy. I'm still kind of thinking about getting a Baja someday, even in that really bad yellow.

Ya the new ones aren't the same. And I meant the 6 speed is probably hard to find.

The Lamborghini Gallardo is the lower level Lambo -- if you can find one a couple of years old with about 20,000 miles you should be able to get a great deal.

You bought a citrus what? Jk. No Citroens in the US, Smeg, and even worse, this country is a bit behind the times and diesels are scarce. We're just starting to see diesels appear and sadly most of those may be more expensive vehicles. We're too hybrid-happy at the moment.

Yeah, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI here is a relatively inexpensive car that gets great mileage. BMW has their 335d (but costs $45,000+ I think). I think Nissan and Acura/Honda were working on diesels. Acura canceled their plans for now and Nissan was supposed to bring out a diesel Maxima in 2010, but I don't know where that stands. Kia/Hyundai was supposed to be bringing one here, but that may have been canceled as well - not sure.

The problem here is that diesel used to be a cheap alternative, but now it's actually more expensive than gasoline is, so you get better mileage, but sadly that's partially offset by the fact it costs more.
