common sense will tell you it will get closer to the mean as the sample size increases. 1/4in----3/4s left. THere is no way in hell his shooting will be in the 30s, trust me.

good point. I think with the "unexpected" success of the Rockets this year, suddenly, everyone is counting on them to compete for a championship. While I truly believe the Rockets have the mettle to become a playoff team, too high hopes are simply unrealistic.

It is actually an incredible luxury the Rockets have: allow role players to grow and play big minutes in the absence of our stars. This enables Rockets brass to evaluate key talent that otherwise might not have had the opportunity to show what they can do. I think players like Ariza, Budinger, Hayes, and even Lowry and Anderson are seeing/will see greater minutes this year than if T-Mac or Yao were playing and are taking on differnt roles than if those two all-stars are present. We have the luxury of low-expectations, almost a bye-year, to experiment and develop a true core. Pressure is off the Rocket's Adelman, Morey, and the Organization because the fans and people understand that they've been dealt a tough hand...thus the Rockets can fly free in this alternate Universe: Ariza the "star" scorer, Scola the enforcer, Hayes the underestimated, Budinger the 3-point threat, Brooks can run and shoot, Landry the 6th man emergent. This is a team with few inhibitions. We need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride because next season will be built on the development, experimentation, and confidence being lain brick by brick (and swish!) this year.

what bothers us a lot is why our first lineup always be beaten ,while our second lineup always save us .no doubt the most reliable player in this team is carl landry.if we change him to be a starter could everthing be solved?my answer is NO.

I agree with the opinion of many rox fans.the problem is the imbalance of our first linup.there are too many defensive guys, like shane ,chuck.they bascially can't even create any offensive opportunities.and trevor is too much far from consistency, often totally lost during the game, even don't know his personal role.his shooting time selecting is horrible, can't be a reliable go-to guy.

SO how to solve all these? My suggestion is start chase Bundiger instead of shane or trevor.these 2 guys can't be on the court together.let carl play more time,30min+.lowery must play more minutes, especially when we are against really tough teams, like JAZZ,LAERS,SPURS,MARVERIKES,MAGIC,CELTICS...

David andersen is not suitbale for NBA,dump him and sign a strong muscle insider more than 7 feet .trade MAC as soon as possible.I don' wanna him to make others be distracted.last but not least, extend yao's contract immediately,he is our biggest asset which could attract more superstars to join us.

Sports discussion boards always need targets... in years past, TMac would have been targeted for criticism for taking too many shots or not driving to the basket and settling for outside jumpers. Skip was targeted for shooting too much and for missing too many floaters. Heck, Yao was targeted for not dunking the ball. If and when TMac comes back, he will soon re-assume the target.

I don't have a big problem with how any of the Rockets are playing right now. I didn't expect them to make the playoffs this season, and yet here they are, contending. Sure, I'd like Ariza to be a more efficient scorer, to take fewer bad shots, to not dribble into traffic and turn the ball over. But he has been scoring, he has been defending well, and he has become an important part of this team. He had a really bad game. He made a really stupid mistake. He will take his medicine and learn from it. Play on...

Morey has outsmarted all of you  . This his way of tanking, starting Ariza & Battier leaving T-mac on the bench. His only trouble is Landry and Brooks are doing to good. They don't want to start Landry because he will score too much  .

Seriously Ariza back should cut back to 10 -12 quality shots a game.

Question, Do any of you all think C Bud might be losing confidence in his shooting, seems like he is passing up a few open shots and hesitating to much on others.

You know when you watch the guys play and you see someone makes a play, theres that brief second before the ball moves where you have a nanosecond of reflection about whats about to occur. Some examples:

1.) Lowry gets a steal and a fast break, before he even has the ball you have a certainty that he is going to end up at the line or with a layup.

2.) Battier starts dribbling into the paint, you can almost feel the airball or turnover incoming.

3.) Rafer spotting up for a three, you can hear the clank before the ball even leaves his hands.

4.) When Scola gets ball deep in the post and he starts spinning, I can feel the dipsy doodle up and under one handed scoop for 2.

Well I have gotten to the point where when Trevor gets the ball to start a play I am pretty sure it is going to be a missed shot or a turnover. It will not improve, it will not get better. He is, what he is. At this point it is not worth it to continue this course of action when you have 2 legitimate scoring threats on the bench in Taylor and McGrady. I can understand the hesistation about playing McGrady, but letting Jermaine gets some time in this role could payoff big, with little or no downside, considering the alternative.

Cliffs: Stop pretending Ariza is a go to guy. He isn't and never will be.

How does he get majority of his points in seasons past? As he is shooting a lot more threes this season and making them at a much better percentage. And yet his FG% is at an all time low.

So do I. People took his playoff three point percentage and then added in magic fairy dust and extrapolated Scottie Pippen numbers for him. It was pretty obvious to anyone who watched him play that he isn't a scorer, ball handler or play maker. He's a spot up shooter who can finish on the break and who CAN defend well when he is being disciplined (which he is not lately).

It's time for someone to have a talk with the guy because yesterday's attempted cheap shot elbow was a sign of bigger things. He is obviously not happy with how he is playing so the coaching staff needs to step in and do something before he becomes a bigger problem to himself or the team.

I think he did come to the Rockets with intent on doing exactly what he's doing, expanding his game gunning for All Star consideration. There's no other quality player at his position on the team other than McGrady. And think he WOULD be upset having 2 other ROOKIES at his position take his time and shots away this early.

I dont think its Ariza not liking his current role. I think its just the PRESSURE that comes with being the go-to guy he's probably not liking. They get ALL the blame when things dont go right, something he's never had to deal with. Being the lead guy in rec league and lead guy in NBA are 2 different things.

But if he's a competitor he'll keep trying. Gotta give him credit for trying to improve after getting his contract instead of being Sasha Vujacic after getting the money regressing back to scrub-dom.

I'm not saying they SHOULD decrease his role. Who else is gonna be the 2-guard taking those shots? Budinger's just been marginally better. Just saying IF they wanted to alter things early, this is a good window here
