anyone know if brooks is still involved with the Sunshine Kids? i think after he got traded he said he would stay involved with them anyone know if he did? he was a great guy the 4th quarter enigizer bunny or whatever calvin called him. true champion he was with us for only first ring i guess and was traded in 95 for mortin riley? ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
He played for the Knicks for a year or two after us. I was in New York a few weeks back, and I ate at the Carnegie Deli. Their sandwiches are way too big and there are autographed pictures of famous people all over the walls. While we were eating, I looked over to my left and saw a picture of Scottie Brooks on the wall. He was doing a layup in his Rockets jersey and it was signed --- '94 World Champs, Scottie Brooks. I guess they didn't realize we beat the Knicks in the finals that year! Good 'ol Scottie. You forgot my favorite Rocket of all time though -- Craig Ehlo. ------------------ We have a 50/50 chance of winning our next game, but there is only a 30% chance of that.
Wasn't he traded in '94 when Cassell arrived? I believe they just gave him the ring, cuz he played for part of the season. ------------------
I think hey traded Scottie to Dallas during the middle of the 95-96 season for a second round draft picked. Forget Scottie Brooks though, whatever happened to Melvin Booger? ------------------
He was traded in spring 95 I think, to Dallas, for some scrub who we cut immediately. Rudy said he wanted to give Brooks a chance to play on another team, while Scottie cried I think and then turned on the Rockets pretty quickly. I always liked his game though. Up-tempo, solid backup point. Alot of steals and few turnovers, and he had a nice (and rare) pull-up, midrange jumper. ------------------
I played Scott Brooks one on one a year ago at my gym here in Irvine, CA. He beat me 11-5, though I did block him a couple times. He was a really cool guy. He showed me his championship ring which is really an impressive piece of jewlery. Right now, he works for the Clipper organization as some sort on anouncer every now and then. He was on the Clipper summer league squad THIS year and was cut at the last second. ------------------
This question shows up like every 3 months...maybe a little birdie asks this question just so we remember him. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
CBFC: Are you sure the last name of the Suns' coach is not Skiles?? Or you are kidding right? If you are kidding, please at least add a or something, I am struggling with your humor, man! Seriously, Scottie Brooks was traded in the 94-95 season (the second championship season). Sam Cassell and Kenny Smith was playing pretty well at the time and Hakeem was in his prime (read: no true PG was necessary) and Clyde was beginning to develop chemistry with other players (they originally hated him because they didn't understand why Rudy wanted to break up a championship team). It was apparent Scottie's service was no longer needed. He hardly got any PT at all. After he was traded to Dallas, in one game against Houston, the little man actually won the game for them. He was on fire. He went after every loose ball and made jumper after jumper. One time he even stole a ball from Hakeem -- mind you that was Hekeem at his best. Although I think it was also more like the Rockets let him win the game for Dallas -- they just didn't want to break his heart anymore. It was a touching game to watch. After that like most other ex-Rockets he faded away pretty fast ... Sailor ------------------ If Dream was a horse ... he would not be pulling your bandwagon anymore.
All I know is Scottie Brooks had 100 times more heart and balls than Scottie Pippen. Best of luck in whatever "The Energizer Bunny" is doing! ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
He did make a pitstop in Dallas, then NY. The real question is... Where did he play in college???? He played for three different schools. Name em. Don't cheat!! This is a sad but of trivia I pride myself in....knowing where most all of the NBA players played in college. Geeze, I gotta get out more. ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back!
I know he went to some 2 year school before. But he played at UCI leading the anteaters in scoring, averaging about 21 points a game. ------------------
He actually started at TCU, then San Joaquin Delta, then UCI. I don't remember him at TCU, but he only played one season there. ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back!
those guys are all part of the witness protection program..they are sipping ritas in florida somewhere.... ------------------
