Na, there was internet multiplayer. You would have to go to a friend's house to actually play. Plus, even with Atari, NES, Later Genesis and SNES...outside was more fun.
I talked to your buddy, Mr. NonScarbutt, and he said you were playing "Pitfall" on Intellivision back then. He also said you played constantly even though it was shittiest game ever and you never left your room when they played football outside.
I had cousins that had an Atari 2600 and then a 5200. Played the hell out pitfall when I would visit. I didn't get an NES until 1988 and I was a Freshman in High School. I played football in the streets and basketball in the apartments and the park. Also, played Little Baseball for 7 years. So, I left my room for much of the day...lol.
Life Lesson: Kid: “What’s the point? I mean, how do you know if you won?” “Won? Won what?” Kid: “The game. When does it end?” “Hmm…well, it ends when you die.”
The Oilers won 1 game the year Pitfall was released. There was nothing else to do. And the game, it had a realistic walking animation for the first time.
