I think DMB can sell out medium sized venues in 10 years, like a lesser version of the Dead.

They sell out the shows because people expect to hear the hits from yesteryear. The new albums that get put out tend to suck. I mean seriously, "you're in the psyyyyyyyyy, your in the psycho circus" doesn't get you pumped like "Rock And Roll All Nite."

Man, I have always wondered about you guys....Why is it that Rush gets so much disrespect around here?

Obviously, you guys have only heard what gets played on the radio, and havent bothered to educate yourselves on their abilities.

They are good songwriters, great musicians, and give a helluva good performance.

    Why the constant disrespect?

I can understand why no one here likes one of my other favorites....afterall, Iron Maiden isnt everyone's cup of tea...but Rush is nice and inoffensive, plays great songs that are actually about something...and pull them off flawlessly on record and live.

I wish Rush woulda played in an indoor arena.

Whoever came up with the idea of building an outdoor facility for Houston concerts was on crack.

Actually, I happen to be going to Simon and Garfunkel.

I'm taking my Mom for her 70th birthday.

I asked her how many joints she wanted me to twist up for the show. She got kind of pissed until she realized I was joking....or was I???? :D

It was pretty cool. Lots of music from his new CD. He encored with "Hello It's Me" and an old Utopia song. His band was tight. We sat at a table that was reserved for his entourage. There were maybe 300 people there.

The answer to every question in America is money. Middle Aged baby-boomers have the cash so that's where the concert industry is focused. We will gladly pay $75 to go see some geezers sing the songs we loved in our lost youth, and buy lots of $5 beer while we're there.

And we can take the kids! So they will understand just how superior our generation was.

(ugh, the 80's...too much smoke and too much coke..I could smell that smell...hmm Lynrd Skynrd, I sure like to see them live again)

Rush was waaaay better than I expected. But the hill was nasty, my feet were underwater most of the night.

By the way, they now tow cars from the mall parking lot. Didn't happen to me, but it happened to some of my friends who got there BEFORE they put up signs.

So where are we supposed to park?

Man, I really wish they would just burn that place down to the ground so we could go back to seeing concerts in Houston instead of The Woodlands. I'd much rather see a concert at the Toyota Center.

Damn straight! It was once a great town.

Anyone besides me go to the Texxas Jamm Concerts?

I went to one in the Astrodome with Heart and Foghat and another one at the Cotton Bowl with ZZ Top opening for the Rolling Stones. I think there was a third, but I can't recall.

Driving out to the Woodlands is a pain in the arse too. BTW, do you guys remember that outdoor venue that used to be in town like next to the Southwest Freeway? It's a huge plant nursery/gardening store now, but it was like this big hill and a stage I believe. I never went there, just drove past it a lot.

Whenever I go to a show at the Woodlands, I always make somebody else drive. When they ask me if I can drive up there, I ask them if they want to get arrested, and it usually ends the conversation. That drive absolutely stinks. Woodlands Pavilion would be a great venue if it were closer to town.

I remember going to two of them.

My first one was at the Cotton Bowl: Sammy Hagar, Foreigner (sucked), Eagles, April Wine. The temp that day was 112F and way hotter sitting on the astroturf in the Cottonbowl. I bought like 10 cokes at $5 a wack :s

My second one was in the Astrodome: Joan Jett, Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent, and Santana.

I went in 84, with Rush, Ozzy Osborne, and others I have trouble remembering. I think 38 Special was there.

    1982-1985 is one long blur to me now:eek: :p ;) :D

I went to a couple of the Texxas Jamm shows.

the best one was Styx, Sammy, Nugent, Triumph, and Uriah Heep(IIRC)

andthe other one was the year before that...Journey and some others I cant recall at the moment....I was wasted all day before that show...so my recollection of that day is fuzzy at best.

as for parking at the Woodlands....they have built several lots around the back of the venue...which is irritating cause it takes longer to walk from there that it did from the mall parking lot.

mateo...where on the hill were you...me and my friends were sitting right down at the bottom of the hill in the middle... and andymoon was right behind us.....a shame we missed ya.
    ;)
