The Nets definitely rue the day they traded for Harden.

The Butterfly effect is just too much long term.

I wouldn't care. The "What if the 1984 rumored trade between the Blazers and Rockets for Clyde Drexler and the #2 pick in exchange for Ralph Sampson had been accepted by the Rockets?" question kind of bothers me more than any other trade. Talk about a trade that could've been an apex-level NBA history-changer. lol.

I'm convinced Utah is getting him.

You won't convince me the draft is always a draft, at least not the top pick. Utah, of all basketball cities, wants an American white guy given the racism. God knows the Mormons have money.

I am thinking the same thing, he goes to Utah or Dallas because they need a good white player. Dallas is owed, so I can see them getting him. The Nets have actually done better than expected, they are actually too good for their own good. They just lost by a few points on the road to the Cavs, they beat the Lakers who had won 8 straight, they beat the Rockets twice in one week, and that is them trying to lose and they are a handful of games from the play in. If the Rockets had their picks, I just dont see them getting Flagg. In no way would I feel like the Nets getting Flagg meant that the Rockets could have had him.

We also now own a 2029 Mavs pick which would have had a 29 year old Luka on their team, now there is no telling who they will have. Other than the Lakers, we are the second biggest winners in that trade.

I think NYK still trade Bridges but I am fine with the deal. Between Green, Sengun, Amen or trade we will have a more “defined” star player next year.

Nets wouldn't have a reason to tank if not for having their picks back.

If the Mavericks end up with Flagg, I’ll quit watching the NBA.

If Brooklyn lands the #1 pick and drafts Cooper Flagg, my first reaction will be pain. But then, the overthinking kicks in.
Because yeah, we had that pick for three years, watched Brooklyn fall apart, and then handed it back right before it turned into gold. But if they didn’t give it back, does any of this even happen?
Maybe Brooklyn never trades Bridges. Maybe they’re fighting for the play-in instead of bottoming out. Maybe they hire a different coach, make different moves, and end up picking 9th instead of 1st. There’s no way to know, and that’s what makes this so frustrating. It’s like rewinding your life to fix one mistake, only to realize it changes everything else too.

No regret, they would make the play in with bridges tbh. The east is very weak and they started the season winning games so they had to move players.

Since I didn’t think Brooklyn would be any good, even with Bridges, and since I really wanted us to have a shot at Cooper or a top pick in this draft, and since I didn’t think we got enough in the trade to give the Nets back their future….i will be upset if the Nets end up getting #1. But it is what it is. I just focus on rooting for Phoenix to lose.

Agreed. I think it's a done deal also. Flagg to the Jazz. Ainge helped the Lakers/NBA facilitate the trade for Luka to go to the Lakers of all teams - sure he got 2 2nd rd picks for taking on a **** player for salary matching. But Ainge helping out the Lakers?? A team that Ainge I'd imagine would never help unless hell freezes over. Cmon now... we all know there is something under the table for him that Adam Silver guaranteed to give him to help the Lakers get back to relevance and supposedly help boost **** ratings.

I think what would've hurt even more would have been if we still had the Brooklyn pick, but that pick ended up being the 2nd pick and not the 1st.... just short of getting Flagg

This is a game of billionaires trading future favors. Fertitta knows what he's doing. He is well liked by all of the owners.

Stone was the one who initially approached Brooklyn about trading their swaps and picks for PHX. The reports are he has been trying to get the trade done for some time so he didnt have the leverage on the trade. if he had spy equipment and knew Nets were gonna trade Mikal for 5 picks then yeah he could have held Nets over a barrel but without that information there was no way he can do that.

So the rigged draft sent the best top pick in a decade to one of the smallest markets in the country to pair with absolutely nobody?

People love a conspiracy theory, logic be damned.

I feel the same. I think it’s a mistake to target Booker (who is overrated as possibly declining). I’d rather take my chances on younger players.

100% disagree….they were always going to trade Bridges for the massive haul they received. Brooklyn was going nowhere with or without Bridges and we may have just handed them the next superstar for free. All for an extra future pick. Any logical human being knew that Brooklyn would be much worse than Phoenix this year so we knowingly gave up an unprotected top five pick in the strongest upcoming draft in years. Honestly, with Durant, Booker, Beal we should be getting much worse than the 11th pick that we likely get….should have been in the 20’s. Still no idea why we gave up a guaranteed unprotected top five pick for so little in return.
