Changing diapers... did my undergraduate work from 1983-88... just finished my Master's Degree and and am currently working on my PhD.
mine would have to be mental math. i was state UIL number sense champ my senior year of high school (class of 2000 baby) and i did it on one hour of sleep to boot (we drove up after the after-prom thingy and it was at 8 am). if you don't know, number sense is 80 questions (no scratch work, calculators, anything that isn't all in your head allowed) and you get 10 minutes. so i guess if you finished first at state multiple times then you can beat me. now to the people who are wrong Mummywrap and DieHard Rocket, i think i could give y'all a run for your money in shooting. my record at the gym is 24 3's in a row, and i've done 22 twice and 20 once (not in a game, just shooting of course). for free throws, i've had streaks of 127, 119, and 106. this was on my driveway (i measured off 15 feet and then stood about 4 or 5 inches back from that to make sure i was far enough) so i didn't even get a nice controlled gym type place. i'm short, can't run, jump, play D or anything else, but i can shoot. as long as dunking isn't a shot, i'd love to take on anyone, anytime in horse b/c i don't know that many good shooters to play against. hmm, was your high school good and how did they do the GPA thing. my best friend at UT was the valedictorian but they just did A=4, B=3 and so on whereas we did decimals and it pretty much went down .2 gpa points for each 2 point drop in grade. i was the salutatorian and we both know i woulda beat him if we went to the same place. i woulda been the valedictorian if i had taken damn health when it didn't count (last semester) but instead it counted and i lost by that margin and the school told me i was the valed. anyway for about 3 months then realized they screwed up and told me i was 2nd. not that i'm bitter or anything or wanna see everybody involved dying in pools of their own blood while i stand by laughing. anyway, properly motivated (as i was in high school but am not in college) i think i could beat anyone in school (man that's something to really impress the ladies with). also i once knew the first 370 digits of pi so i think i win that but maybe not. i think i'm also the best at sucking at driving a golf ball. if you saw me play today, you would have no argument. some absolute beauties including one that went directly into water located no more than 15 yards away and about 5 yards to the right. i didn't think that was possible but i really impressed myself with that one.
Trivial Pursuit, especially the Sports version, Jeopardy!!, pinochle. At one time, I was a pretty competitive track guy whether it was running the 100 meters, 400 meters, or even the mile, but I'm not anymore. Now, I am someone who could "win" fastest or quickest gains in lifting weights.
You got to remember this was over 10 years ago, but my best times were as follows: 100 m - 11.26 s 400 m - 52 s (was actually the first leg of the 4 x 400 m relay) Mile - 5:25 (ran when I was a sophomore and on the baseball team; the coach made everyone run a mile and timed us) Now, I would be lucky to break 12 seconds in the 100, a minute in the 400, and 7 minutes in the mile. Getting old sucks.
5K race. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49415 If I don't take the BBS crown outright, I should be able to take the masters division .
Just show up tomorrow, young whippersnapper . But you don't live here, do you? Are you still thinking about running the marathon? It goes right by my house, so maybe I could put in a few miles with you (or as far as I can keep up).
You play NTN? We could meet and I could kick you azz for cheating me out of the "poster" competition!!!!
I would kill you at NTN. I've finished #1 in the nation twice. Of course, one time it was Dave Matthews Band trivia and the other time was a game we already had...Major and I finished 2 and 1, respectively.
Ah shat it's OWN!!!!!!! Humperdincks in Arlington? Go there and look for the 13,000 by "WOW" that's my user name.
I signed up for it, but I couldn't afford to pay the fee, so I had to drop out. Sadly, I don't think I can afford any more races until I start working again. I'll just be pounding the pavement daily in my neighborhood.
we should get together to play some Sports Jeopardy sometime. Codell provided me with the link: http://jeopardy.station.sony.com/sportsjeop/ I'm down anytime!
AB, I'm registered at BW3 in Austin. I've got close to 1.5 million points. I'm probably a little rusty since I haven't played that much since moving up here, though. Next time you're up here or next time I'm in Houston, I'd down for a game or eight. Loser has to buy the round.
We could also all do online sports trivia at www.buzztime.com (NTN). They have games every 15 minutes or so.
