What would you think about a two story house with 2.0 baths?

If the house has not been built yet I'm sure you could talk to the builder about adding a 1/2 bath down stairs which would probably be easier than trying to add one later on your brand new house. I'm sure I wouldn't buy a house without a bathroom on each floor. (I say this now but I'm living in a 82 year old house with no closets, no garage, no useable attic access and a kitchen that needs updating very very bad. Try living with no closets and no garage. It sucks.)

I agree with Jeff, but I'd also go as far to say that location and neighborhood can also change in a heartbeat. You never know what's going to happen with your neighbors. But I'd do it the way he suggested. And your best bet is to sleep in the neighborhood for a day or two to get a feel for what happens at night. Sleep in your car. Sounds dumb, but you can learn about a lot of crazy stuff you may not want to deal with.

Well, we used to live very close to there, so we know the neighbourhood pretty well. Thanks for the thought, though. Man, I haven't slept in my car in a long time...:D

as a child, my family never lived in a house for more than 8 years at a time. Partly due to corporate transfers and due to desires to move into nicer homes, we were always on the go. Anyways, I could never buy a house w/o a downstairs bathroom. When you're throwing parties (be it keggers or elegant dining occasions), it will always be awkward for guests to trudge up the stairs to relieve themselves.

Just put a latrine or an outhouse in the backyard. Dixie cups work well too. :p

I'm suddenly having an "American Pie" flashback.
