VSpan playing 30-35 mpg... lol... that's about 10 pts, 10 turnovers, 10 bricks, 1-3 steals, and 4-6 good hustle plays per game. Rafer > VSpan Rafer 30-35 mpg >> VSpan 30-35 mpg (at least at this point in their careers)
you ppl are crazy... Rafer is out best pg, hands down...well, actually he is 2nd best PG if Tmac handles the ball....but still..... this VSpan hype is out of control....he had a chance to play 15min a game, and he played his way out of the rotation...
I agree that Rafer is better at this point in their careers. But Span is averaging 1 turnover every 10 minutes, so he would have 3 turnovers, not 10..... The turnover machine bit has not happened during the regular season outside of one game where it was a blowout and he tried to get a little fancy. DD
lol at everyone not reading the first post. Anyway, I think the answer obviously has to be Rafer, if only because we can't really afford to take risks, no matter how beneficial they may wind up being, at the moment. Maybe once Tracy and Yao are back and healthy, V-Span can get another extended look.
Ok, I understand people saying that he played his way out of the rotation, I can not argue that his shooting stunk. However, has anyone acknowledged that he was playing out of position? He is a PG, who is better off the dribble...... So, IMHO, he should at least get a peek at PG......before making judgements. DD
OH BABY OH BABY SKIP TO MY LOUUUUUUUUUUU OH BABY SKIP MISSES A FREE THROW OH BABY AND ANOTHER ONE OH BABY AND YET ANOTHER ONE OH BABY TAKE OUT RAFER, PUT IN THE PROFESSOR OH BABY THE PROFESSOR LMAO
Come on man, do you honestly think I thought he'd average 10 turnovers? Play along. Oh, but then again, his 1 turnover every 10 mins has been in short periods or against scrubs, so ... hmm.. anything is possible I guess.
Trading Alston is too risky...But I'll be happy if we could get Billups, Bibby or Duhon...they're much more stable PG's with better outside shooting...(Billups and Bibby can opt out from their contracts which seems that they can be expendable)
He's averaging about 3.5 TO's per 35 minutes against scrubs and some NBA starters to Rafer's 2.2 TO's per 35 minutes against NBA starters. It'll be interesting to see how he does against players that get more starter minutes. If we could either get Rafer to finally hit some shots or not take more than about 8-10 a game, he would be solid enough for us to win. I'm wondering if JVG has given him the green light if he's open to shoot the ball or if he's jacking shots on his own, though.
I don't know what your definition of "drill" is, but if you're saying he can hit a shot, well, no, that's his problem. He can be deadly from 3 point land or equally suck from out there from game to game. Rafer can also pass the ball and push the ball just as well if not better than VSpan. When Rafer brings the ball up, the Rockets always seem to have 19 seconds left on the clock to set up the play and shoot (I was watching for this in this past game against the Grizz). I'm sure VSpan could do the same. I just think VSpan's weaknesses are greater than Rafer's right now. Rafer can shoot the big shot or score inconsistently. VSpan can't and he can't consistently.
....and this is according to his limited numbers? what 10 min per every 5th game? the only thing that we don't know, is what goes down in practice...
Rafer at PG, Vspan backup for a defensive-minded game Rafer at PG, Lucas backup for an offensive-minded game Luther should never be at PG unless T-Mac is in the game where he can help handle the ball..
What offensive-minded game? JVG is all about defense. That said, I think in the long run, VSpan will be a better player. It is just for now he is struggling with not knowing his teammates well yet, and hence his passes always seem to be off, but the reality is his teammates don't know him well yet either and can anticipate his passes. There is really another option, play Vspan more, but keep in as #2 (SG). Thus he can learn and get used to the game, and still play mostly to his strength. In a few months, as he learns the system and teammates, he can gradually move into PG position.
the honest truth is that we don't have anyone better than rafer. anyone that thinks luther or bill yor even lucas is ready to start is crazy. rafer keeps TO's down and sets up the offense quickly (unlike lucas who brings back dribble-mania). he hits a nice % from 3 as well. he's not perfect, but he's the best we have.
