maybe not named after them as such, but likley a reference to the Native American heritage of that region.

ALOT of things in that area refer to the history and heritage of the NA's.

I don't know much about Oklahoma, but what is there really to know about Oklahoma other than boringness and the Sooners?

 

Dusters and Drillers seem the best to me so far.

 

I kinda like the name Thunderbirds. Dusters would be cool, too.

 

I didn't expect others to like my "Dusters" suggestion so much, but the more I think about it, it's not bad. They could call their arena The (insert corporate name) Dustbowl.

 

How about "Slickers"? Oklahoma City Slickers!

 

I'd put some money on the Drillers being their mascot.

 

The OKC Basement Dwellers

 

There's a minor league baseball team in Tulsa named the Tulsa Drillers. I'm not sure if this would prohibit them from using that name, but the baseball team has been around forever and I can't really imagine it going over all that well in Oklahoma.
