I'd say a combo of anything, but Yao, Martin, not all 3 PFs (scola, PP, Hill), and not both points guards.

I think Martin is almost untradeable really...not so much because he's that good, but because it's not that easy to find a true SG that is an all-star talent. Nowadays a lot of the better shooting guards are really swingmen that are better suited as small forwards....Not sure why there's such a gap, but it seems like there's not many of those true 6'6 guys who can score and shoot. In the 90s there were a bunch of them, now they are becoming extinct...

So yeah, trading martin would be like trading yao, in that it would create a large hole that's not easy to plug. Lot of solid point guards out there.... a lot of solid Pfs...small forwards...but SGs and centers are rare, keep'em when you have them.

top 6 SGs in the NBA (random order):

    Kobe
    Manu
    Allen
    Martin
    Mayo
    gordon

after that it takes a big drop into the inconsistent or role player level. Martin is easily top 5, with allen on the decline he's really top 4 (kobe/manu/martin/gordon).....and gordon isn't clearly better and is definitely less efficient, so its fair to say Martin is TOP THREE.....why would you trade a player who's top three in his position?

and the reason i'm going on and on about it is because i just realized that myself as i was writing my response.....ihad forgotten how rare good SGs are lately, probably need to start a "we cant trade kmart thread"

Yeah, anyone would be up for grabs. It would be up to Lebron who he wanted to keep here to play with.

Thanks to yahoo, who lists Wade as a combo guard, i managed to completely forget about him in my post above, as well as maybe one or two other guys  ...so that top 3 should be top 5 really, but possibly top 4, depending on what you value more..but still my point is the same :)

If you give away your core assets, why would james come here. He would be better off staying in Cleveland.

You're not fooling anyone. We all know this was off the table years ago.

Brandon Roy and Dwayne Wade waves. Joe Johnson/Ellis/Curry may say hello too, although I'm not convinced they're undoubtedly better.

I'm curious though...when you say Gordon, do you mean Ben Gordan or Eric Gordan?

I knew i forgot something else...i was running on fumes late last night and even still i cant remember seeing JJ or roy on Yahoo's list...

yeah i meant ben gordon...eric gordon is good, but i was trying to focus on true SGs, he's more of a scoring combo..that's why i didnt include curry or ellis. They can help you win games during the season, but i'm not convinced you can win a ring with a pg playing shooting guard, unless you're stacked in the frontcourt. History in the last 15-20 (at least)years shows champions have more traditional shooting guards, not those small combo guards.

LOL to the people who would not give up our oft injured center who can't finish a season. LeBron is probably the best player in the NBA and young. If you have a chance to land such a player you do it even if it means getting rid of Yao. I would personally wait on Bosh until all chances of getting King James are gone.
