A lot of truth in Mrs JV's post. Before you judge your mom...recognize that those were different times. Very different times. A workmate of mine, who is now in her early 50's had a child when she was young, and she put the child up for adoption. Only her mother and best friend knew. Her father, and siblings were told she was going to bording school for a few months when she began showing and went away to have the baby. She came in contact with the kid a few years ago. They met a few times, exchanged letters -- but they really didn't have much in common and haven't kept in touch. Good luck to your brother. On whatever he chooses to do. I don't think any of us can really relate.
