Needless to say I'd be angered beyond words. I'd email the league office suggesting that China be cut off from all NBA broadcasts and merchandise. And I'd ask him to terminate any and all contracts which have NBA merchandise manufactured in China.

That was my point. I was being critical of our idiot foreign policy.

    Yao Ming: Gimme a high-five!
    Andre Agassi: BOING!!!

I'd continue following the Rockets like I normally do.

The only way I would quit following a favored team is if the owner does not show a commitment to winning. (You reading Drayton?)

I'd be po'ed, but I'd still watch the Rockets. If anthing, I could put an asterisk next to every championship afterwords saying we would have won it, but China had to interfere. :D I know, that's stupid, but I'd do it.

I wouldn't worry about this though. Everyone wants Ming in the NBA. Well, maybe everyone except for opposing C's. He he he. :D

well ming has yet to play a game for us so it wouldn't "take the Rockets at least 5 years to recover from this loss." however, i would be very pissed to say the least but the core of this group is still very strong. anyways ming will be here and the championships will come.

Actually, I'd consider climbing inside the Great Wall of China and making so much racket that they'd be forced to try and get me out but I'd be too smart for them and barracade myself with rocks subsiting on mushrooms and rainwater. So, they'd either have to destroy a national treasure to get me out or cave in to my demand that Yao plays for the Rockets right now.

    So there! :p

I dont even know if the worst part would be Yao not playing for us. I think it would be all the "I told you so's".

We would have to hear it from ESPN, Rocket Guy, KidRock, and All the sports writers! I wouldnt enjoy that.

We should send in our stealth bomber and capture Yao. Anybody knows how much headroom r there in one of those jets. Better yet, invade China and LIBERATE our comrade.

    God Bless America!

I'd take a bat and hunt down every person who says "I told you so" because I know it would annoy the you-know-what out of me.

I'd pull up the wonderful "myth" threads about Yao's availability and then I'd get back to talking about how Mobley doesn't pass.

Gee DavidS, I can't figure what you've got against our foreign policy. I mean, isn't disrespecting other nations and bullying them to get what we want what we're supposed to do when we have the biggest weapons? ;) We always know what's best for other peoples, because they're so stupid, you see.

So of course, I'm with gotoloveit2: if the Rocks don't get Yao, we should invade China and "liberate" him.

Anyway, so why wouldn't we go sign one of the other international guys who kicked the American's a$$ at the World Championships? Like that dude from Argentina who scored 25 in the final game.

The Chinese are scared that Yao will never be available to them once they release him.If he doesn't join the Rockets I would recommend to them to trade his rights to the Warriors in exchange for their unrestricted 1st round pick next year and give us a chance to pick up Lebron James.I'm guessing that the Chinese authorities might let Yao eventually play in the NBA if they don't agree to let him come to the US this year and Golden State has a big chinese population.
The Rockets will survive and do better this year even if Yao is not allowed to play and eventually they will find a good center for the team.
I still think that things will work out and Yao Ming will get to play with the Rockets this season because he is the 1st round pick and that means a lot to China.

I would never buy anything made in China, ever again. Wait a minute, that means I couldn't buy ANYTHING! Thanks, Bill for all those trade deals! You screwed your own country! And it is probably your fault if Yao doesn't come!

Yes, I'm with gotoloveit2 too! I like the "capture Yao" operation!

    There's nothing like a cloak-and-dagger mission!

Precisely. If the cloaks of our operatives are simply a rich earth tone, we could code name the mission

Operation Yao Now, Brown Cowl
