NFL Hitting QB below the waist rule: Clearly favoritism towards one position, while other positions on the field are vulnerable towards hits below the waist. Illegal hits Some of those hits are just hard and circumstances, you cannot take those of out of the game. If the league wants to play a little rinky dink, mediocre unwatchable game in London and call it a home game and way game Sort of like my NBA idea, why not just put all of the teams in neutral sites for a week. Giving every team 8 home games, 7 road games, and 1 neutral site game. If two teams have to play extra away games, let everyone play away games in cities they do not have NFL games or are low in attendance. Pro Bowl On one hand, Honolulu is ideal for players. They love it over there, as end of the season event. It should be sort of an honor for them after playing so hard, during the season. 1. I would alternate the sites every other year, but keep most Pro Bowls in Hawaii. 2. The losing team receives significantly less money. 3. Why are we changing the Pro Bowl, did it get bad ratings or something? It's not perfect, but it's for the players and to give people one last football game to watch. 4. Why was it moved from the very end of the season to before the Super Bowl? Disband the franchise tag or give other teams a right to sign an offer sheet or player not agreeing, like with restricted free agents I see the need for a franchise tag for teams to keep quality players, but players should be able to go out on the open market, when they are properly an unrestricted free agents. An offer sheet would work, like free agency. A team throws a franchise tag on a player, while a prospective team can match it and offer that player a termed contract. Contact with 5 yards, after the catch, not as heavily enforced Show the ballots of hall of fame voters I'd like to know why a coach, like Bill Parcells is not stacking up against the likes of Curtis Martin. Count interceptions that bounce off a receiver's hands or body, or that go through his arms, as a turnover on the receiver A quarterback shouldn't be faulted with the receiver's mishap. Leniency on the salary cap Teams can simply pay high luxury tax, if they are over a certain amount, while if it gets severe, the hard cap comes back into play. Veteran discount value towards salary cap Allow 7+ year vets who have played with a team for 7 or more seasons to have a discounted value against cap. For example, $10 million per year salary only counts as $6 million against cap.
Some good ideas. Some things I would do. -Another poster said ban flopping, Could not agree more. I would review every game and issue a fine to any player, who flops, no appeals allowed. If you get shoved by some invisible force you pay a fine. If you flop you get hit with a fine. -Others have brought up the Lottery, I like the drawing. Teams should not be rewarded for being horrendous, that's ridiculous. It's like being the worst at baseball and wanting the gameball when you didn't do ****.
all star game players get voted in. Coaches pick the teams regardless of West or East on the spot of the all star game.
I would replace the All-Star Game with a 3-on-3 tournament. Whenever I hear about a player growing up playing ball on the, ahem, "mean streets" of Philly/LA/Brooklyn/etc. and their distinctive style of play as a result, I always wonder how each city's players would stack up against each other. Professional sports leagues give us a false sense of city allegiance--let's face it, we have teams mostly full of mercenaries--and that's good and fun, but I think it'd be neat to see a 3-on-3 style tournament with groups led by all-stars. Each all-star could choose anyone in the NBA from their hometown area for their team. ex: Philly = Kobe, Lowry, Tyreke Evans(?) Cleveland/Ohioish = Lebron, KMart, ??? Dallas = Bosh, Aldridge, ??? Chicago = Wade, Rose, and Juwan Howard! Houston = Uhhh Okay, the consistency of the groups break down a bit, but I'd still watch it! Also, I can only remember where so many NBA players are from. Typical 3-on-3 rules: half-court, 1 and 2-pt shots, first to #pts wins... and no refs/cheap fouls! Having guys call their own fouls would cause even KMart to stop flopping--nobody wants to be the pansy who plays the victim when there are no refs around to reward it for you. Anyway, I think this would be fun to watch and would give a lot of cities something to root for... well, more than the usual all-star game that is.
