They don't. Sam Houston is not a better school, does not have better sports teams, etc. It's poorly ranked by national evaluations (last I checked.) It really doesn't compare in any favorable way with U of H except... U of H is a crap part of town and has a bad image in part because of this. This in turn leads to most Houston students and parents thinking that places like Sam are better than U of H. It partly explains why our ratio of attractive people to dogs is not tolerable considering we are in TEXAS.
Yep. Thanks for that, by the way. LOT'S of amazing women at SHSU. Believe me when I tell you.....I know that first hand* if you catch my drift....and I think that you do......AAAAAH YEAH!!!!!! *because none of them would date me
Nice thought, but the feeder roads and the offices and shops that built along the feeder make this impossible. About the closest thing you can do is what Bellaire did: Take down all of the Billboards and place a wall between the freeway and the feeders.
Definitely a revamp of the public transportation. I went to Boston last year and it was so nice just being able to hop on the subway and go anywhere I wanted.
I would guess that the majority of students that choose SHSU over U of H is because U of H is a commuter school, and doesn't come anywhere close to offering a traditional college experience. Most kids that attend still live at home with their parents. I know that's why I didn't go there. It had nothing to do with which was a better school, or how ghetto it was.
Zoning. Houston should have had it several decades ago and still doesn't. It's a travesty. So much history has been lost. So many neighborhoods destroyed, unique architecture gone forever. Why? Greed and ignorance.
arriving into hobby or especially IAH and cruising into town on 45... HORRIBLE first impression of houston. that stretch of 45 from the beltway into town is a monstrosity... ugliest stretch of freeway imaginable. ps - houston needs a thriving music scene in the worst way.
