    Houston Out
    Battier
    Rafer

    Atlanta Out
    Speedy Claxton
    Anthony Johnson
    #11

Trade Accepted according to REALGM.com trade scenario: 3984568.

I hate this trade, but it could work. Please don't trade the Shane.

excellent choice, trade shane and our point guard for even more guards which brings our PG total to...7.
anyone else want to come up with some more really silly and pointless trades?

Fresh idea. Morey's head would get the axe before the impact of the deal sets in.

Upgrade, sure. But who is that 11th pick and how long will it take him to become an actual upgrade? What is the probability that the pick will even turn out to be an upgrade at all?

From all that we heard, the Rockets do not plan to stand pat. I do not believe this is the avenue of change they go down, though. Besides, ATL is a very young and very bad team, they should not be trading their future for veteran help. The thing I see valuable for them is either 1)Head: a young shooter-- they have plenty of youth, but none really is a shooter of Head's caliber; 2) Sura's contract, if the Rockets are willing to help eat some of the salaries they want to dump... And in return, the only things I see them offering is one of their duplicative 6'8'' forward types.

Unless Jianlian drops and pans out I hope y'all realize Battier is better than the 11nth pick. Our window is now! Yall are crazy. I guess Young or Law or Thornton may turn out but Battier is far too much to wager at this point.

It is possibly going to take at least two more seasons for the Rockets to be contenders. Possibly more if it takes a couple of Offseasons for Morey to learn from his mistakes. We already know that he is not listening to the advice of Coach 'A' by refusing to consider Artest. Possibly if the reports are true [I hope they are not] I think he could be making a number of poor decissions this offseason, by bring on board more of the same, if you get my drift. Morey is playing it very conservative and safe which could blow up in his face if we dont see an upgrade over last season.
Within my heart, like all other Rocket fans, I secretly hope that Morey will surprize us with some smart moves which will enable Coach 'A' to create great chemistry in 07/08.

On the brighter side we might find a great Power Forward lurking on the Roster of the Hawks!!! Josh Smith would even be worth Battier or what ever we could get away with .

You're right about one thing...even the Hawks aren't dumb enough to bail the Rockets out for overpaying for Battier.

That said, I'd have to think that the best PF available @ 11 is an upgrade over Hayes and that shipping Battier out puts McGrady where he belongs at SF. Whomever the Hawks sent to match Battier's contract would surely add depth even if it amounted to skills duplication.

Again, like others have stated, the Rockets have little the Hawks would value.

i see a lot of ridiculous trades on here. most i just skip by. this one...i'd do. joe cool is one of the most underrated, polished ballers in the nba. pick him up, draft best player available, and call it a day.

unfortunately, i don't think ATL would do it. they like joe cool and i don't think they care about the length of his contract.

If we keep Battier you guys will get to see how well he functions in a fast paced motion offense. He might actually be able to play PF in that type of offense. Rick's offense needs players who will make good decisions... thats Shane.

Picks are worthless if there is not a player that will help the team at that draft spot.

If the 11 is worth more than Battier then why haven't I seen a list of all the players we're going to be drafting there.

I think the key word here is "WOULD". For the past 4 or so years, the Hawks have needed a point guard(according to everyone except the Hawks), but have drafted a forward. Alston would be a perfect fit with Atlanta in the East IMHO. For some reason Billy Knight has a thing against point guards. Look at the points he's passed on in the last few years. There's even rumors that Atlanta will trade the #3 to Portland so the Blazers can keep Conley & Oden together.

Ideally a package with Alston, swapping 11 & 26 and filler would be good for both teams. But since we're dealing with Atlanta, it ain't gonna happen!! :(

Houston either has to buy the pick or trade McGrady for it.

    McGrady-Luther-cash for Joe Johnson-Josh Smith-Solomon Jones-11th.

Take PF/C Joakim Noah or Yi Jianlian with 11th pick.

Houston is desperate for D and rebounding at 4 spot.

I would like us to do this- but I doubt Yi Jianlian will be available at 11.

#11 I would give them Rafer and #26 or Rafer, Luther, and #26 for #11 and Landlord (if you don't know who that is ask someone else).

I still think this is the best bet if we were to do a deal with Atlanta

I love how all those trades make us have no back up point guard anymore. You guys really know how to address all those problems we had last year.
