We keep Lin on the books. Or We strike out on a marquee free agent and only sign lower level players/vets ex: Paul pierce spencer hawes.
I don't think keeping Lin on the books is the problem since he is gone after next year anyway. His play is the problem. Striking out would make me more "upset", but these two are likely dependent on the other one.
I agree the second is dependent on the first, although someone around the 12mil/yr could be had without moving Lin.
Striking out on high profile free agents. If we strike out, that means we keep Lin. I don't mind one year of him. But losing an opportunity to upgrade our roster will suck more.
Well, KD won't be available until after next season and I don't want no-defense Love or Melo. So keeping Lin would be less upsetting.
Keeping Lin. We don't need Lin and we don't need a big splash free agent. Not because Lin is bad, but because with McHale and Harden, Lin will never reach his true potential as a starting point guard which he can be. His play\ is part of it though, the mistakes in the playoffs and how easily he doubts himself. We need a guy who is more consistent and not too jumpy, shaky and unreliable.
aren't these kind of the same thing? I don't care if we keep lin or not. Wanting him to leave is only in the context of getting a great player.
Harden playing dog crap defense for the Rockets again would be more upsetting than both poll options.
We could do worse than keeping Lin and seeing out his contract. Seriously. And there's always the chance he improves... even if slightly.
Watching Lin play in a Rockets uniform again will literally make the joints in my body instantly ache. He is possible the worst decision maker of any Rockets guard ever (including Steve Francis). However, if the Rockets come back with the exact same roster next season Morey's job needs to be in question
Melo would be great, but I'd be fine with 2 really good players in the 8-10 million range, if they keep Lin they don't have much of an opportunity to improve at all so I'd say I'd be more upset with keeping Lin.
Neither would really upset me that much. I'd like to see us acquire that third star but I'm fine with letting this team grow with maybe a few pieces added here and there.
Lin is an expiring contract. Who gives a crap whether he's traded or not, except as it affects other transactions? I want the team to be better. I don't care how the Rockets get there. Big name free agents are not the only solution, so I kind of roll my eyes at both poll options, but one option is a move that itself improves nothing and achieves nothing, and the latter is a possible but not guaranteed path to improvement. So I picked the second.
Keeping Lin or striking out on a quality FA doesn't come remotely as an upset as Harden keep playing his ZERO defense ball next season.
Losing Lin, the return of Linsanity on another team, then Houston looks stupid... again. Of course, the worst thing think that could happen is losing in the first round no matter who they acquire.
