Seems like it would be a lot easier to get Elton Brand. Im hoping that Houston is looking like a really attractive place to play right now and a really good player will force a trade here. For maybe Rice and Mobley.:D

I think the Bulls will need to include Chandler in place of Marshall in order to make Minny think about it.

    I believe offer is better;

    Francis (The key bait)
    Cato
    Rice (for cap purposes)
    Griffin (Maybe)
+ a Draft pick or two

for KG and Hudson is more conceivable at this point. Yao (In place of Francis) can be a better bait (and I am sure Minny will jump on it) but there is no way on earth Les is letting him go because he the Franchise's most valuable now (based on potential).

Getting KG is not that far fetched.

i'm glad you had the balls to realize francis would have to be included...which would be fine by me. that said - DO NOT TRADE GRIFFIN. do you realize our front court would be

    SF: kevin garnett 7'0"
    PF: eddie griffin 6"10
    C: yao ming 7'6"

    that's insane!

that would be insane if Griff didn't play like he was 6'6".

On KG, I really don't think so. Portland and Chicago would give better offers imo, and I don't think McHale would ever trade KG, period.

1st round and out is better than anything we have now, with the possible exception of Ming.

It is a no brainer - Francis or Yao must have to be include to get KG. Since we know that Les will almost not trade Yao at least next season, Francis looks like the most likely "A" List bait to get KG.

KG, a sure fire HOF, (DOB = 05/19/76 ) is only 9 months older than Francis (DOB = 02/21/77). KG is a premium player - one of the top five in the game and will remain in the top ten for another five years. IMO Minny will be crazy to let him go but the inevitable sweep by the Lakers could makes things easier for us (KG is frustrated already and itching to taste other waters).

I could live with KG + Yao, and everyone else being role players. Of course a good point guard that can at least protect the ball would be key also.

Great bigmen is always better than great little men, regardless of the fact that KG is way better than Francis anyway. If you could do it without Francis, it'd be amazing, but even including him, assuming you get Hudson, a decent player used to playing with KG in return, you are still pretty set.

Well, if it meant getting KG, I would put this package on the table for Minnesotta:

    Steve Francis
    Eddie Griffin
    Bostjan Nachbar
    Glen Rice
    Cuttino Mobley

    for

    Kevin Garnett
    Troy Hudson
    Anthony Peeler

I think we'd have more than enough to re-sign him. Ming/KG would be close to the best duo in the league. Garnett has never had a player like Yao to support him, and he'd be familiar with the point who brings decent scoring and takes care of the ball. Bring on the Lakers:

    Yao Ming/Kelvin Cato
    Maurice Taylor/Kevin Garnett/Kelvin Cato
    Kevin Garnett/Terrence Morris
    James Posey/Anthony Peeler
Troy Hudson/FA Minimum signing or Moochie Norris

If Yao improves at all, that team can win Championships immediately. Really, who can beat that team?

As for Minnesotta, they'd basically be semi-rebuilt with some nice pieces:

    Nesterovic/Marc Jackson
    Griffin/Joe Smith
    Szerbiack/Boki/Rice
    Mobley/Szerbiack
    Francis

I think I'd even throw in a draft pick. Some cash too.

To be honest, it doesn't take Garnett for me to put Francis on the table anymore. I think Odom and Brand would tempt me to offer Francis and a player.

Garnett would never leave Minnesota as a free agent - he could only receive a "max" contract under the new CBA if he signs outright with a new team. However, he is grandfathered to his old salary (plus 12.5 to 20% per year in raises?) if he stays with Minnesota, which is way more than the new "max".

The only way he would leave is if he bluffed Minnesota into trading him by stating he would not re-sign. But Minnesota would know that such a move would cost him probably $100 million in earning capability. Ironically, KG probably has less free-agent leverage than any other player in the league.

Oh, I know it won't happen, because KG just won homecourt advantage (despite probably getting swept) and is re-negotiating his contract with smaller salary numbers to help the team. You don't do that unless you KNOW you're staying.

Me too! For Both Odom and Brand, in a second! But the Donald wouldn't want Steve, would he? Hey Donald - Steve gets to the allstar game, sells tix, sell merch. Go for it. You too, Kev. You can have the Steve and Cuttino show.

You make a convincing case. I can see why none of those other teams would do the deal. But I can see why the Rockets would provided they could resign KG.

Lets see whats going on now. 7 straight 1st rd playoffs exit. How mad is Garnett now especially when he played very well and they still got their ass whipped. Can the Rockets cme up with 28mill in players without sacrificing everything in hopes to resign him?

Any deal as most would point out would probably have to start with Francis, maybe. Taylor and his 8 mill,Rice is another 9 thats 17.Now we're 9mill away Cato to replace Rasho thas 7 and Griffin for potential thats 3. Rice comes off the books so thats 9 mill they get back after next season and Cato only has 2 more yrs. I would even throw in a couple of future 1st rd picks if need be. We'll see this summer how desperate they are. We'll see what kind of team player Garnett is.

It will also depend on how desparate we are. I dont think he is worth at 28 mill. My two, make it three cents now. If he coming in at 20, I could think.
