Alston is not a super star, so dont claim at him so much. In fact, he did good work in Rox, especially feed to YAO . I like him as well as i dislike Tmac.
I think that the fans attending the game Tuesday should all yell out "SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT" any time Rafer has the ball in his hands. I would only hope the Rockets will defend the Magic in such a way that is designed just to make Rafer shoot as much as possible, which is really the way teams should also be defending that team now. The only reason that I would see that defensive game plan wind up not working would be if he ends up having one of his few high percentage shooting nights.
^^ there's nothing more to be said. just because someone's not the best in the world doesn't mean you don't respect wat they did for your team. he worked hard, led the team and did what he could. sure he wasn't the best shooter..but it is what it is.
We will 'prepare' Alston for wide open shots by using his defender to double team others at all times. The exact same strategy other teams used when Alston was on the Rockets
going underneath every single screen and double dw12 with the pg to sneak the ball away when dw12 does his spin moves...
Very good proffesional, always big effort, a team guy on the court and locker room, 3-4 years being our starting PG, and great guy with the people and the media. If I could be in Toyota Center... standing ovation, without a doubt.
yep, dont guard him so he can shoot 3 pointers, all night. (and missed them all) or let he do teardrops. This is going to be the first time, I be cheering to rafer to do a teardrop, LOL rafer is a good guy, he works hard on court, but I didnt like him as the starting pg of the rockets, but now he is in other team, I dont have hard feelings against him.
Rafer's done a nice job with the Magic so far. His shooting is still horrendous (28% on threes with the Magic), but he's got a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio and he's getting a bunch of steals. The only thing Brooks has on him since the trade is he shoots better from three (38%) and scores a little more frequently.
I wouldn't give him any open shots. Players usually show up motivated and ready when they play a team that just dealt them.
agreed, Von Wafer is a typical example when he plays lakers. But that rule doesn't work on Rafer, instead it will only make him suck even worse when he faces rockets. He will definitely kill his team with his bs shots and nobrain turnovers.
A little off tangent, but I wonder if the Magic will defend us differently now that they have Alston. Especially, Rafer's knows Yao's game inside out, so what will he be telling his teammates? More importantly, will it make a difference? I'm also looking forward to the battle between Brooks and Alston. Should be fun. BTW, aside from a decrease in 3point%, Alston's overall numbers with Orlando are slightly better than those with the Rockets this season. His FG% is 40.5% from 37% and his points went up to 12 from 11.5. And he's doing this while playing 3 minutes less than he was here, which means he's putting up better numbers in fewer minutes. Orlando should be pretty happy with the trade.
The biggest tragedy of this thread is that after 16 votes, it has a 1.125 average. Some jerk gave it higher than a 1
