Is Stoudemire really possible? I find it hard to believe - no way we're going to have 2 Allstars on the front court and a borderline Allstar on the backcourt.
Phoenix offered Amare to Morey for Battier and Scola at the last minute. There wasn't much time left to do the deal, so they asked Morey to waive physicals or medical records. Morey told them that he didn't want Amare without seeing the medical records or physicals. Morey also didn't want to take Amare without an extension, because Amare can opt out next year. The trade would have been for a 29 game rental, without the extension.
I forgot to include the original thread. Phoenix also asked for draft picks. That's why Morey wanted NY's picks. It's easier to sign and trade for a franchise player than to sign him out right. http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showthread.php?t=182542&page=1&pp=20
no to Amare, he will always want to "stick it to yao" by scoring more than him to prove he is better and should have been #1 pick. that means he wont be a team player, plus, without an excellent pick and roll nash type pg he is useless. his back to the basket game would take shots away from a higher efficient yao the 2 pfs that would fit yao better are josh smith and anthony randolph. we dont need a pf like amare that "wants his shots". we need someone that (a) does the dirty work (b) rebounds, blocks, passes, dribbles, defers to yao ,so you can rule out Chris Bosh because there is only 1 ball. I just dont see a allstar pf working here, yao would be relegated to "standing around watching bosh", and brooks and martin would be "dumping it down low and watching" like when we had Hakeem/Barkley here. Id rather have a cheap, affordable, high energy guy that can run the floor and rebound but not "demand his shots" and we had one , Carl Landry. We need to find a Landry clone or better yet, trade our ny picks for landry himself. After Kings see that Landry isnt who they thought he was (they think he is barkley) they are still rebuilding, if the rockets get a lottery pick say Monroe, Id bet kings say yes to monroe-landry swap. Smith isnt available (although if joe johnson leaves maybe smith will demand to leave and he trains with hakeem) and randolph is severly injury prone and overrated i like monroe and favors, and next yrs i like perry jones. Problem is we arent getting a top 5 pick unless we get lucky. We NEED to trade our NY pick ON DRAFT DAY because right after draft is free agency, and if the knicks get joe johnson+amare you can say goodbye to any team wanting those ny picks because the value would drop considerably. I assume morey knows this.I expect a draft day trade of 1 of our sg/sf (battier/cbud/ariza) + scola + ny swap 2011 + this years lottery rocket pick to net something good, problem is I dont know yet who that is, my gut feeling is Josh Smith. brooks/lowry martin/taylor ariza/cbud josh smith/jeffries yao/hayes
I am also against Amare, because at this point in his career, he will probably want a long-term contract, with bigger money every year. He might be worth that contract for a few years, but it might very well end up killing us toward the end.
Next season Lowry- Temple Martin- Brooks Buddinger- Ariza Bosh- Armstrong-Hill Yao Ming- Andersen Scola & Battier gone in Bosh Trade! From the land of dwarfs to the land of Giants Lowery starting with Martin will be so much more effective
Looking at the Rockets next 5 games, I think they should start tanking if they don't win 3 of them. Play Buddinger, Brooks, Ariza, and Hill. Play Lowry too much and it might hurt Les' pockets in the off season.
Ur close! Brooks/Lowry Martin/??? (ginobili would be nice) Ariza/Budinger Bosh/Hill Yao/Hayes or Anderson CHAMPIONSHIP!!
Why not? Last season we had two all-stars on the team and one borderlne allstar. Having said that, I am against going after Amare. He is simply not a good fit for us. With Nash to dish him easy layups, Amare would be expending all his energy creating his own shots and will have very little left to focus on his already porous defense.
there is no guarantee that Bosh opts out of his contract with toronto, he may resign there, but amare is a surely free agent, and Morey knows what it takes to get him
2010-2011 Houston Rockets C: Yao Ming/Brad Miller/David Andersen PF: Chris Bosh/Chuck Hayes/Jared Jeffries SF: Trevor Ariza/Shane Battier/Damion James SG: Kevin Martin/Chase Budinger/Jermaine Taylor PG: Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowry/Garrett Temple Scola and Knicks 2012 First Round pick Traded for Chris Bosh Rockets Draft Damion James Rockets sign Brad Miller
You would have to add Battier to make it work! Unless u think Scola is gonna get paid as much as Bosh! This would be a ridicules team though! Your talkin 65 wins with this lineup!!
